4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tulip glass at Red Eye. Poured slightly hazy straw golden with a short-lived head. The aroma picked up sweet floral notes above all else, with chamomile and lavender leading.. peppery notes and slight musty character showed toward the back of the nose.. sufficient bready base. The flavor was very floral as well.. chamomile and lavender again, joined by slightly funky, fruity Brett and white pepper.. the pale base supported and didn’t need to do much else.. dry and refreshing on the finish. Light-medium bodied, dry, and engaging on the palate.. low carbonation.. really good stuff!

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
On draught at the Red Eye brewpub in Wausau, Wisconsin. Pours a hazy golden straw colored saison with a heavy white head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind a lot of lacing. Aroma of spicy Ivory soap perfume, light white pepper, sage, a hint of lavender and herbal spices. Taste is medium bodied, with lots of flavors that would be challenging to describe. Detected flavors of golden grain malt, cloves, sage, lavender, white pepper potpourri, and spicy herbs. Finish is well-balanced with aftertaste flavors of sage, cloves, even a hint of wintergreen, with some lingering mild herbal spices. Now this is the kind of saisons I can really appreciate.
