From a bottle. Deep copper colour, Vegemite aroma, smooth malt flavours with some fruity hops too. Not quite what I expected but quite nice.

Smells of a Scottish paddock. Looks like a puddle in a Scottish paddock. Tastes comforting of tobacco with a pleasant aftertaste.

Hazlenut, brownie aroma. Ugly leather colour but cool in its own way. Smooth malty body. Not used to malt the whole way through the taste of the beer, interesting. Watery finish.

Dark copper colour. Rich biscuit and malt aroma, loads of deep malt flavour with rich caramel and some light choc flavour. A really tasty beer.

Good colour description, burnished copper. Strong caramel malt aroma. Lovely flavour on first drink, but to my taste appears to be a bit too sweet. Overall a nice beer though, just a bit sweet.

Burnished copper is a good description. Minimal head and medium level of lacing. Aromas of roasted malts, huge chocolate and glacé cherries. Flavours of chocolate, christmas pudding and roasted malts. Smooth mouthfeel, gentle mid palate bitterness and a sweet finish. A slightly hollow finish, but enjoyable flavours. Esb as listed? Scotch ale? More like a chocolate dark ale to me. I don't care though, nice beer.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. In the cellar for two years, aged very well. Poured black with burgundy glints around the edge. Aroma of toffee, dark fruits, nuts and a touch of cocoa powder. Big smooth toffee flavours, backed by a rich dark fruit profile. Couldn’t believe how smooth the body was. Advice to anyone who wasn’t happy with this beer - chuck it under your bed for a while, drinks really well with a bit of age.

Pours a clear but dark brown with some brick red highlights. Getting some dark roasted malts, chocolate and stewed fruit on the nose, with maybe a hint of peat. The taste has some lighter fruit (plum?) up front before some coffee-like bitterness comes in. Finishes clean with some peachy notes. Actually a pretty good beer, but I’m not sure it’s really true to the style.
