From BandC. One of those beers from a mix-a-6 that you get home and say why the hell did I mix in this? Flash forward, New Year’s eve dinner looked to be a depressing affair, left-overs or the crappy Chinese take out place down the street. I figured what a good time for some malt liquor. Well, everything turned out better than expected. The Chinese place must have gotten a new chef and as for the beer although the aroma was bad and the palate a bit watery, Red Horse wasn’t that bad. Much better than the malt liquor like OE800. Slightly grassy and not much cereal taste. Serving: Bottle

Poured from a can. Clear pale light gold pour with a small soapy white head. Weak malt and grain, maybe a touch of light fruit/apple. Pretty bad.

Bottle at a karaoke bar in Quezon City, Manila, Philippines. This is the best beer I’ve had in Metro Manila. Pours clear gold in color with white head. Aroma of corn and apples. Tastes of bitter malts with a hint of caramel. Bitter aftertaste. Cheap beer that really hit the spot on a hot, sweltering night.

Only my second Phillipino. Beer. 330ml from Chinese warehouse in Brum. Hysterical gold with a slim white collar. Aroma of rusty water, raffia beach mat, dank dog, almond, Madeira cake and rubber band enunciating the ABV loud and clear. Reasonably mellow flavour alluding at lemon sponge, cherry, rubber and palinka. Some retronasal bread and honey. Full body, glue heavy, but it goes with the territory. Not a bad strong tropical lager.
