Bent Nail I.P.A. is a tribute to the hard-working contractors who make their living in Red Lodge. The I.P.A is high in alcohol and hop flavor. We use copious amounts of American cascade hops to give the IPA intense grapefruit and citrus aroma and flavor. Bronze medal winner – 2007 Great American Beer Festival.

Bottle. Aroma is malty, sweet, berry-ish hop aroma-- certainly not a signature Cascade nose IMO Similar in the flavour department, low bitterness, a little earthy. Almost more British in style, I would never have guessed Cascade is their hop of choice in this brew. Hmmmmm...

GABF 2010, copper pour, citrusy hop aroma with some caramel malt sweetness. Good bitterness cut into nicely by the malts. Seemed more East Coast IPA styled. Active/ tingly mouthfeel. decent

On tap at Mackenzie river pizza. Pours a golden copper with a light beige head. Aroma pleasant citrusy and floral hops, distinctly cascade and a nice malt background. Flavor is smooth and balanced hops and malt with medium bitterness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

In a world full of over the top IPA’s, Red Lodge Ales makes this very refreshing, and completely drinkable, IPA. Fresh hops abound, with some great citrus notes. Finish is long and unoffensive.

Moist and heavy from a good hopping! There is definately some good hops in the nose but mine is a little burnt and can’t quite pick it all up... Very nice clear reddish brown, just a hint of haze, exactly the amount of red and brown an IPA needs. A bit of nice fine foamy head on pour, fairly decent lacing. Nice a nd smooth in the mouth, a good bit of hop bitterness at the end but it is nicely balance with all the flavours and alcohol. A pretty darn good IPA. Just the right amount of everything, really gives you a good appreciation for cascade hops.

Pours nearly clear gold except for some chunkies. Foamy beige head. Aroma- sweet citrus and mild pine. Taste is a good balance of sweet and bitter but nothing extraordinary. Overall a bit watery and bland. Finshes with some husky grain and vineous bitterness.
