Red Oak is a Munich Urtyp (old style) lager. We begin the brewing process with custom kilned imported Munich malt. Red Oak is then is the hopped with Spalt Noble hops imported from Bavaria, the oldest hop growing region in the world. Before fermentation we add a yeast strain from Weihenstehpen, the oldest brewery in the world, founded before 1040 AD. Weeks of aging gives Red Oak the smooth taste its known for.

A good Amber, their lager is better. Pours a clear red. Smells slightly of nuts. Taste is basic red, some nuts. Well balanced finish. Had on tap at the Lighthouse Beer and Wine Festival in Wilminton, NC.

Really sweet lager. Clear reddish color. Big malt sweetness and caramel notices. Light, but sticky. Still a decent drinker.

Location: Draft at CLT, 1/15/15

Aroma: Light caramel malt aroma, earthy notes, there is not a ton more than that here
Appearance: It pours a darker orange color, with a clear, small head, and basically no lacing
Flavor: It is pretty similar flavor-wise, malty and kinda sweet, with a mild bitterness
Palate: It has a decent feel to it, a light-medium body, and a fairly lively carbonation
Overall Impression: I don’t have a ton to add to the overall. It’s an okay lager, but not a particularly great one.

Malty. Very little hop character. Crisp lager. Good mild flavor overall. Very approachable for those new to craft beer.

Draft. Pours a medium red, forming a small, thin head of foam. Lacing almost non evident. Aroma was dank, hops are barely present. Flavour is somewhat soapy, lightly herbal. Finish is slightly metallic. Pass.
