COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Red Oak is a Munich Urtyp (old style) lager. We begin the brewing process with custom kilned imported Munich malt. Red Oak is then is the hopped with Spalt Noble hops imported from Bavaria, the oldest hop growing region in the world. Before fermentation we add a yeast strain from Weihenstehpen, the oldest brewery in the world, founded before 1040 AD. Weeks of aging gives Red Oak the smooth taste its known for.

On tap. Although this was served just about as cold as ice (boo) it did have a smooth quality even after it warmed. Smell of cereal adjuncts.

Red-amber with scant, dissipating, off-white head / Weak nose of dark caramel and co2 / Light, thin body, some sweetness with light hopping, and little finish / Light flavors of dark caramel and sour malt / Bud with color.

On tap at Pizzeria Toro, Durham. When ticking goes wrong. This is why bar samples are awesome. Because when you go to a nice new pizza joint and there are plenty of fine beer choices on deck, you want the Danish sample and then go for your trustworthy pint candidate. But with not samples, ticker OCD can kick in and you end up with this atrocious wreck of a beer. Malty and stuffed with corn, it might have worked better if advertised as liquefied caramel corn. Drizzle this shit on the crust of a specialty pie and you might have something.

Draft at Charlotte airport. Pours copper color with off white head, it has indistinct flavor of mild malt.

Tap at the CLT airport. Clear yellow gold pour with a spotty head. Very simple muted Oktoberfest elements. Not bad just not particularly good.

The beer appears rusty orange with a wispy, off white head. The aroma brings sweet malt, fruit, alcohol. Thin, with sweet, fruity, alcohol. No off flavors, per se, but just not my thing. Bland, lacking depth and complexity. Too sweet to enjoy more than one. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-18-2011

Carolina Favorite one of the many hidden gems that haven’t caught on to the mainstream. A delicious medium bodied brew for those who dont like something to bitter or to dark

Thoroughly average go-to if you’re looking for a casual beer or if you’re looking for a local alternative to macro lagers. On-tap and bottled are consistently identical (good QA/QC, guys). Wish it was cheaper so as to better compete on the local market.

From tap. Pours a wonderful clear red color with little head. Aroma is sweet in both caramel and fruit. Taste follows as a caramel malt with a little bready taste and lots of sweet fruit. Crisp finish.

Tap. Deep amber with small head. Very smooth. Slight sweetness and light caramel. Depending on your mood, this could either be described as a bit watery, or a bit light bodied.
