COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Red Oak is a Munich Urtyp (old style) lager. We begin the brewing process with custom kilned imported Munich malt. Red Oak is then is the hopped with Spalt Noble hops imported from Bavaria, the oldest hop growing region in the world. Before fermentation we add a yeast strain from Weihenstehpen, the oldest brewery in the world, founded before 1040 AD. Weeks of aging gives Red Oak the smooth taste its known for.

On tap. Although this was served just about as cold as ice (boo) it did have a smooth quality even after it warmed. Smell of cereal adjuncts.

Not a fan. When I drank this I was reminded of how my basic homebrewing skills far exceeds the quality of this beer. Oddly sweet on the finish and lacking much character. I’m not a fan of the aftertaste.

It pours amber with a white that does leave some lacing. It has a faint, malty aroma. The taste with of caramel with some fruit. It was fairly smooth on the palate.

UPDATED: JUN 25, 2014 Sampled on draft this beer poured a red-caramel color with a medium sized creamy off white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was very faint, a touch malty and had a bit of fruity hops. The flavor was sweetish caramel and dark fruits. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied and smooth. Pleasant.

Red Oak is clear ruddy amber beer with a decent foam of cream colored tiny bubbles. Nose is medium roasted malt and grain. Taste is rather thin grain and a bit of moderately toasted malt. Hops are very mild. Body is rather thin. somewhat of a disappointing lager. On tap at ruddy duck tavern in morehead city north carolina.

Smooth, very smooth. no bitterness or after taste. Fresh, crisp, earthy, nice Some caramel maltine, toasted favor. Great after working outside on a hot day. For a amber I really like it.

Reddish amber pour with an off white head. Nose is a little bready and malty. Taste is decent. A little mineral astringency in the finish.

Got this bottle as a gift from my uncle, who lives in Raleigh. Pours a clear and somewhat bubbly amber, which fades to solar yellow at the very bottom. Pale buff head is fairly thick but doesn’t stick around too long. Strong, malty aroma has a fruity underpinning. Flavor is not crisp like some lagers, smoother and more ale-like; it is malty, a little sweet, with an undertone of pear and apple and a snippet of caramel. Mouthfeel is firm and smooth, if not so fizzy. Overall, a superior lager.

An average craft bee at best. Heavy flavored and pours a deep red. Tastes slightly hoppy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Easy drinking and refreshing. Slight maltiness, and sweet breadiness in the taste. Nice beer to start the night with, especially if you get it fresh, and it’s served correctly with a larger foam head.
