COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Red Oak is a Munich Urtyp (old style) lager. We begin the brewing process with custom kilned imported Munich malt. Red Oak is then is the hopped with Spalt Noble hops imported from Bavaria, the oldest hop growing region in the world. Before fermentation we add a yeast strain from Weihenstehpen, the oldest brewery in the world, founded before 1040 AD. Weeks of aging gives Red Oak the smooth taste its known for.

On tap. Although this was served just about as cold as ice (boo) it did have a smooth quality even after it warmed. Smell of cereal adjuncts.

Reddish amber pour with an off white head. Nose is a little bready and malty. Taste is decent. A little mineral astringency in the finish.

Got this bottle as a gift from my uncle, who lives in Raleigh. Pours a clear and somewhat bubbly amber, which fades to solar yellow at the very bottom. Pale buff head is fairly thick but doesn’t stick around too long. Strong, malty aroma has a fruity underpinning. Flavor is not crisp like some lagers, smoother and more ale-like; it is malty, a little sweet, with an undertone of pear and apple and a snippet of caramel. Mouthfeel is firm and smooth, if not so fizzy. Overall, a superior lager.

An average craft bee at best. Heavy flavored and pours a deep red. Tastes slightly hoppy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Easy drinking and refreshing. Slight maltiness, and sweet breadiness in the taste. Nice beer to start the night with, especially if you get it fresh, and it’s served correctly with a larger foam head.

Draft at Maggionos in Durham, NC. American pint. Pours an amber-orange with a one finger off-white head. Some lacing. Aroma was mostly a malty mashup with slight toffee. The taste was a little underwhelming with no dominant flavor. It was very malty with slight bitterness from the hops. As a Marzen I wanted a little more body, spice, character, etc. But nonetheless it went down smooth and I’d rather drink this than a Budweiser.

After trying several beers on tap at a local restaurant (I think the owner is a hops fanatic) I finally found one that suited my taste. It is the exact color of iced tea. I was getting irritated with my waitress for taking so long to bring my beer. She looked at me strangely and pointed to it on my table. It was right next to a friends ice tea. LOL! Tasted smooth bready/yeasty nutty flavor. Not too hoppy which is a plus for me. reminiscent of a killian’s red.

Red-amber with scant, dissipating, off-white head / Weak nose of dark caramel and co2 / Light, thin body, some sweetness with light hopping, and little finish / Light flavors of dark caramel and sour malt / Bud with color.

On tap at Pizzeria Toro, Durham. When ticking goes wrong. This is why bar samples are awesome. Because when you go to a nice new pizza joint and there are plenty of fine beer choices on deck, you want the Danish sample and then go for your trustworthy pint candidate. But with not samples, ticker OCD can kick in and you end up with this atrocious wreck of a beer. Malty and stuffed with corn, it might have worked better if advertised as liquefied caramel corn. Drizzle this shit on the crust of a specialty pie and you might have something.
