Poured up at the Avenues Proper Publick House out of a 50cl bottle which resulted in a full glass of beer with a nice and dark body that supports a full tan head of foam that leaves behind sheet lacing. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, some spicy anise like black licorice and then a light amount of toffee mixed with dark fruity esters. The taste is rich and roasty with dark roasted malts rolling into chocolate malts and spicy black licorice. It picks up a faint but pleasing degree of sweet dark fruity esters that mingle seamlessly with the dark roastiness into the finish. Nice stuff.

one of the best I have ever had coffee smell and taste with a medium hop bitterness, light head. I was pretty disappointed with Utah beer up until this point, wish I could go back now, hopefully see this on the east coast.

(500ml bottle) Pours an opaque black body with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and some dark fruit. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malt, grass, herbs, light toffee, and coffee with a dry, bitter finish.

(500ml bottle thanks to bu11zeye) clear medium brown, soapy tan bubbles. Nose of chocolate, light alcohol, marshmallow, sweet coconut milk. Taste of chocolate malt, bit bitter, pine, bakers chocolate, medium to light body. Bitter linger.

Excellent complexity is appealing. The sweetness of malt is subdued by stronger bitterness. The direction of this balance shifts over time with a chalky mouthfeel emerging on the finish. Many notes similar to those found in amaro are present including anise, herbs and evergreen.

Big thanks to Dallas for the 500mL bottle! Poured medium-deep brown with a creamy, darker tan head. The aroma picked up sweet, roasty black and coffee malts, with touches of vanilla accenting.. some dry-roasted, earthy accents too.. not terribly complex, but solid. The flavor found a bit of plum and raisin to join the black and coffee malts at the core.. lots of ashy roast evident.. tangy roast and peppery alcohol on the warm, spicy finish. Medium-bodied with low-moderate carbonation on the palate.. OK feel and flow. Not the best impy stout, but I’d drink it again.

Looks like motor oil with a nice light brown head. The nose is huge with roasted malt & baker’s chocolate. The tastes starts with big roasted notes with espresso and dark chocolate. A nice bed of toffee & caramel come next with a strong burst of pine in the finish. This Russian Imperial is stout is dryer than some, but it’s huge roasted character & fresh hop bite make a nice, highly drinkable stout. A chocolate chip cookie would be the perfect partner for this beer.

Roasty, citrus fruit aroma. Malt flavor is pretty sweet, but finishes drier--not cloying at all. Cocoa-like roasted flavor; Fruity, spicy (hops?), molasses. Can smell a little alcohol, but can’t taste it.

Should rate this one again sometime

So few ratings. Is this a wale? Big thanks to douglas88! Near black pour with a tan head. Aroma of pine, chocolate, and lots of roasted/ash notes. A bit too ashy for me really, and it has an odd bitterness that keeps me from really enjoying this one. Great mouthfeel for this, would have never guessed 10% either.
