Poured up at the Avenues Proper Publick House out of a 50cl bottle which resulted in a full glass of beer with a nice and dark body that supports a full tan head of foam that leaves behind sheet lacing. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, some spicy anise like black licorice and then a light amount of toffee mixed with dark fruity esters. The taste is rich and roasty with dark roasted malts rolling into chocolate malts and spicy black licorice. It picks up a faint but pleasing degree of sweet dark fruity esters that mingle seamlessly with the dark roastiness into the finish. Nice stuff.

Taste from a 500ml bottle, big thanks to alexsdad06 for sharing. Black color, with a thin ring of khaki head. Dots and bits of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of chewy, lighter carbonation, lightly slick. Good dark chocolate, toasty aromas, biscuit, moderate roast, hint of coffee, hint of oxidization. Touch of smoke. Moderate-plus bitter taste, moderate sweet. Nice, enjoyable imperial stout. Hides the alcohol well.

Bottle shared by my friend Bruce. Pours dark brown with a modest tan head and a treacle aroma. There is a hearty dark molasses flavor with lots of carbonation and a dry finish. Slight dark fruit notes.

one of the best I have ever had coffee smell and taste with a medium hop bitterness, light head. I was pretty disappointed with Utah beer up until this point, wish I could go back now, hopefully see this on the east coast.

Excellent complexity is appealing. The sweetness of malt is subdued by stronger bitterness. The direction of this balance shifts over time with a chalky mouthfeel emerging on the finish. Many notes similar to those found in amaro are present including anise, herbs and evergreen.

Big thanks to Dallas for the 500mL bottle! Poured medium-deep brown with a creamy, darker tan head. The aroma picked up sweet, roasty black and coffee malts, with touches of vanilla accenting.. some dry-roasted, earthy accents too.. not terribly complex, but solid. The flavor found a bit of plum and raisin to join the black and coffee malts at the core.. lots of ashy roast evident.. tangy roast and peppery alcohol on the warm, spicy finish. Medium-bodied with low-moderate carbonation on the palate.. OK feel and flow. Not the best impy stout, but I’d drink it again.
