3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 GTAEgeek (775) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAY 7, 2013
Growler from the Suwanee Beer Growler. Dark brown, with a small, tan head. Aromas of cherries, rye, toast, and cloves. Sour flavor up front, with some malty sweetness. Heavy body, very syrupy, and acidic. This is more akin to a Flemish brown than a Doppelbock. Very sour and acidic.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 5000 (4974) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - APR 28, 2013
Bottle:   Deep amber, small sudsy off-white head, sparce lacing.   Sweet biscuity nose, faint alcohol.
Not getting the typical Doppelbock aroma, nor the Whiskey barrels it was aged in.   Very bready up front, but not too
heavy.   Moderate biscuit like malts, soft sweetness.   As it warms I do pick up a bit of Rye, but its not terribly
strong.   Overall its very smooth, thankfully not an overdone bread bomb.   The Rye and Whiskey, as it warms, are
very subtle.   I swear, I need a damn 750ml of this as this 500ml is going too quick before I can fully note everything.
Faint toasted marshmallow after the finish.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Smooth, not too heavy, but the
barrel aging needs to be a bit more assertive.   It is so odd because most breweries barrel age beers to the point you
have no clue what the underlying beer is.   This one could have used a bit more barrel aging as far as I am concerned.
As is its smooth, not overly done in the bready sense, but its not as complex or entertaining as other barrel aged
examples.   This one is much more subtle than others, but its still tasty.   Thanks for the bottle Dallas!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Cybercat (2453) - Georgia, USA - MAR 14, 2013
Pours a clear, dark cola brown with a decent, if not too persistent, wheat head. Aroma has notes of roast malt, rye and whisky-soaked wood plus hints of hops and caramel. Robust flavor delights with earthy, fruity, oak, malt and cloves notes plus subtle whisky, caramel and hoppy tones. Smooth texture has good firmness, if not a whole lot of fizz. Go ahead, crack one open (but don’t crack yourself!)

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Squizzle (47) - Idaho, USA - DEC 15, 2012
Purchased from Brewfloria in Boise, Id. Soft, drinkable, smooth and sweetly complex. Drank it slowly in order to save it. So far, it’s my favorite thing from Utah.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 thirdeye11 (5001) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUL 19, 2012
(500ml bottle) medium-dark cloudy brown with just a few fine tan bubbles along the edge. Nose of caramel, light barrel wood, touch of whiskey, cream, vanilla, cocoa and alcohol. taste of raisins, figs, light whiskey, cocoa without being toasty, cream, sounds richer than it is but those are the elements. The body is medium thick, a bit sweet but nowhere near cloying and carbonation abundant enough to cleanse your palate. A very unique beer that misses the mark of being superb, but is still quite good and drinkable despite its 8.5% abv.

Bottle… Clear, dark copper lager with a small, creamy, white head. Decent, thin, swirling retention. The aroma offers loads of caramel and rye whiskey with an afterthought of charred oak. Medium-bodied with a mildly creamy mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. Caramel and rye whiskey form the flavor without being the least bit hot or boozy. Malty, thin finish with a gentle rye whiskey sendoff. Bottle courtesy of newcigarz!
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 mikey (504) - farmington, Utah, USA - MAR 5, 2012
Pours a dark ruby color with a moderate two fingers of off-white head. The nose has a dry roasted malt aroma along with a light rye spiciness. It’s rounded out with a mild caramel malt and vanilla aroma. The taste starts with Caramel malts and toffee. Chocolate covered raisins come next come next with a dry rye spiciness. Hints of vanilla and whiskey come next in the end, as well as a subdued hop bitterness that balances the malty sweetness in the finish. The body is full and the whiskey notes become a bit more pronounced as it warms. The 8.5% abv is well hidden but sneaks up you quickly.
This one damn fine lager. It has an outstanding aroma with a great taste and smoothness. It is a good traditional representation of the Bavarian style with a nice blend of rye malt - that is there, but not overly done - Traditional, yet unique. Highly recommended!
