mikey (321), farmington, Utah, USA May 1, 2008 Poured into a Chimay goblet a light golden honey color with with a moderate fluffy white head that dissipated to a very thin froth. The nose is a little boozy with banana, cloves malt and ripe mango. The taste is very much the same starting with candied sugar and cloves that transitions into toasted malt and banana. The end is sweet and oaky. The alcohol is warming and welcomed, masked well by Rêve’s full body. It adds a whole new dimension to the beer You really get a good sense of the oak in the finish. It’s barrel aged for one year. Don’t get me wrong it’s got a kick. It’s 10.2% abv is more than enough to warm your inner beer geek. RedRock Rêve is more proof that that Utah beers are much more than just 4.0% anomalies . Batch # 710. Pours a fizzy golden with a small white head. The aroma is heavily banana and some yeast. The taste has some interesting qualities; a strong sweet aspect that is mostly fruity. There is also a Brett/funky addition, with some sourness and a bit of oak flavors. This is a strong beer brewed in Utah, which is always welcome. It’s sub-par when compared to other triples, but it is still good and worth having. It is so different than most Utah beers that alone gives it some quality. Plus, the bottle is cool. Finally, this is not the same beer that others had before, ratings more than a year ago are for a completely different recipe. footbalm (1217), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Dec 24, 2007 This must be rated. This beer was not dark and thick. I poured it from a bomber and was dumdfounded that the color was so far off from the other ratings that I had read before I had this.It was almost clear with a bit of a soured fruit nose. It really is a shitty beer. If you found the least liked tripel on the site and tried this they should be twins. It was nasty. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 6, 2004 Dark amber. Very dark. Light head. Strong alcohol in the aroma. Bourbon consumes all. The flavor was like shooting bourbon. Very untripel like. Boo!
