Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green, 29/03/14. Light black with a good sized tan covering that retains well. Nose is roast malt, light smoke, dark malt, charred wood, dark toffee, earthy cocoa. Taste comprises cocoa powder, light smoke, dark toffee twang, hint of wood, light liqourice, hint of vanilla. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Solid enough porter.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is creamy caramel roasted malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a slightly watery malt liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A superb porter I must say and my first Red Squirrel beer.

Cask at the Edgar Wallace, London. Pours a dark ruby brown with a very thin head. Coffee aroma. Medium body, very little carbonation. Treacle, quite sticky, dark choc and coffee. Nicely balanced but lacking a little life. OK. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask at The Nags Head in Reading. Not convinced that this is in the best condition. Bit thin with dominant cocoa.

UPDATED: JUL 20, 2014 Cask at the St Albans beer festival 2013. Dark caramel with ruby red noutes. Loose cream head. Aroma is clean red berry hop slight choc. Slight choc. Flavour is clean fruity berry and choc. Mid palate. Bottle at home, more enjoyable. Good lasting cream head and chalky palate bump this one up a few points.

Hmmm errors out and lost my review. Little to no aroma. Dark color and dark brown head. Malty and hoppy balance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
