1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
UPDATED: AUG 26, 2007 This is one of the few beers from the Red Star that I have really not liked. Sampled on draft at the brewery the beer poured a dark brown color with only a trace of a white head. The aroma was sour malt but nothing else. The flavor was sour and tangy. I could not detect any wheat or much flavor of any sort other than the sharp sour and maybe a hint of banana.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This rating is going to be exactly the same for my rating for the Red Star Belgian Dubbel. That said the two beers taste exactly like a weizenbock with good flavors of cider, banana, and smoke. The weizenbock is a good beer and it fits its style.
