COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Red Stripe Light is D&G’s alternative to the original. It has a smoother taste, and besides having a lower alcohol content, it is also ’less’ of a beer as it comes in 10.5 oz. bottles.

Suttree’s Nothing else to do in Mid-February Tasting. Sample from a bottle shared by me. Clear yellow, white cover. Aroma is crisp, faint corn. Taste is more corn, simple and not as buttery as the regular Red Stripe.

(bottle - 330 ml) Clear gold with a fizzy head. Faint aroma of grass, corn, and malt. Dry malty flavor at the beginning with a faint fruity sweetness near the middle. Finishes clean with a light sweetness followed by a little bitterness. It’s a beer.

11.2 ounce stubby bottle - $1.29 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. Appearance: Pours a clear, yellow body with a head that quickly fizzles out into a thin white ring before you’ve even set the bottle down. Smell: Smells like somebody opened up a bag of Fritos! I’d rather have the Fritos, to be honest. Taste: Incredibly faint maltiness though with very little sweetness. There’s a carry over of the corn chips from the disheartening aroma. No real apparent hop presence. Weak, watery, corn-laden finish. Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium-light carbonation. Drinkability: Hooray Beer-lite! While it probably has a place served up on a hot, sunny beach somewhere, it’s just not too terribly enjoyable here in Georgia during the waning days of Winter.

It tastes like Red Stripe, only less so. I brushed my teeth this morning. I have on a blue shirt.

Tallahassee, Fl - Publix Supermarket - 10.5 oz bottle (yes - I feel jipped!) . Pours a crystal clear very light golden with little to no head - painted bottle redeems it from a 1 for appearance. Aroma has some metallic essence to it. Flavor does not have much more to offer. Same metallic dullness permeates throughout with a hint of seltzer water. The palate is where this really goes downhill - throat clenching harshness as it goes down - very thin as well. Pass on this one.

12oz stubby. Pours clear, light yellow. Thin white head. Aroma of grassy hops, very light. Flavor of pale malt, some cardboard box. Very watery, overly light bodied. Ok if you’re looking for something to pound down, not if your looking for flavor. Good for that neighbor that doesn’t drink beer.

12 oz. bottle. This is a new thing in Georgia, I believe. Head didn’t last but a few seconds. Gold transparent appearance. Aroma is heavy on the grass (no, not cannabis), and there is a slightly sweet caramel malt aroma in there as well. Fairly pungent brew. Goes down easy with the same thing(s) i.e. grassy flavor and slightly sweet caramel malt flavor. Overall, not bad, and fairly smooth. Not dangerously smooth, but smooth enough.

I had a ton of these during my honeymoon in Jamaica when the goal was purely to get drunk without adding too many calories since I was gorging on all-inclusive food. Not very good. A bit of corn and a slight sourness. Very little else going on.

Bottled. Lighter in color and more water presence... otherwise a very similar brew. Corn makes that same sour then sweet feel ending lightly bitter.
