COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Red Stripe Light is D&G’s alternative to the original. It has a smoother taste, and besides having a lower alcohol content, it is also ’less’ of a beer as it comes in 10.5 oz. bottles.

A: The pour is a straw yellow color with a fluffy white head that dies down to a thin layer of foam. S: A surprisingly malty aroma without quite as much in the way of corn or rice as most light lagers. A hint of skunk, but otherwise just fairly sweet and light with a hint of bread. T: Decent flavor, but a bit unimpressive (not shocking, though). Lightly sweet grain with a hint of corn and a light bitterness. This one is actually fairly dry. M: The body is, of course, light with a lively carbonation that pricks the tongue. D: If you’re going to drink a light lager, this might actually not be an awful way to go. By no means amazing, but there are definitely worse options.

Bottle. Poured clear pale color with a medium frothy white head that was mostly lasting with fair lacing. Light to moderate sweet grainy aroma. Light body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Light to medium sweet flavor with a light to medium sweet finish of short duration. My expectations where not met.

Almost a water clear color with a white head. Flavor and aroma are very watery and grainy with corn notes.

Bottle… Clear straw-colored lager with a fizzy, quickly dissipating, white head. The bouquet is all about pale grains and spicy European hops. Light to medium-bodied with a slick mouthfeel and tickling carbonation. The flavor tilts toward the sweet side of balance - clover honey. Flavor-wise, the hops are really a non-factor. Zippy, moderately sweet finish.

Tasted from a 12 oz. bottle purchased in Fort Collins, Colorado. Pours a light, clear-yellow body with little head. Skunky head and light skunky body. On top of that, it’s only 3.6% ABV!

11.2oz found in Barbados. I didn’t even know this existed!! The pour is a clear straw to almost clear (SRM:1) with a detergent white head that leaves no lace. Aroma is thick old candies, old lemon drops. Maybe light vanilla. Taste is watery, some odd smoke and burning plastic, fireplace, soapy water. Actively offensive. Palate is watery and full on dish water. Gross.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear golden color with a thin fizzy white head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is grass and grain with not much character beyond that. The taste is grainy with metallic notes and a bit of a sweet finish. Thin bodied. 5/19/10

Hand grenade-shaped 11.2 oz bottle. Poured bright golden with a short, sticky cap of white head and rising bubbles. The aroma picked up not a whole lot.. some grass and straw notes over pale malts was about it.. smelled like it was going to be airy and refreshing. The flavor found pale malts and a little flaked corn at the core.. light grassy bitterness and lemon again on the edges.. very weak overall, but well-balanced for what it was. Light-bodied on the palate.. higher carbonation kept it from feeling watery (well.. actually it didn’t feel unlike sparkling water).. overall crisp and refreshing.
