12oz Bottle. Someone left this at a recent party, so I thought it my duty to rate a free unrated beer and get the Jamaica tick. Dreck, pure dreck. This is one of the poorer large commercial pale lagers out there. Soapy, wet corn, cardboard, and malaise. Ugh. I was hoping for something flavorless, cold, and thirst-quenching but instead got a drain-pourable mess.

Im into this beer right now. I spend a lot of time on the water and this beer is nice for it. Sweet nose, carmel malt. medium - light taste. lively carbonation. positive.

Eiskalt kann man es in Jamaica trinken. Ansonsten trifft man auf ein langweiliges wässriges Gesöffs mit wenigen herben Momenten. Die deutschen Brauen immernoch am besten...

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Chad9976 (616) - Albany, New York, USA - JUN 8, 2011
I poured an 11.2oz bottle into a tumbler
Appearance: Dark white gold, crystal-clear, quite a lot of carbonation present. Forms a one-finger bright white sudsy head which mostly evaporates and leaves trace lacing.
Smell: Typical macro lager smell of corn and grain. Not skunky or sour, but nothing appealing to the aroma.
Taste: I wish macro lagers each had their own distinct flavor because trying to review beers like Red Stripe is a challenge since they all taste pretty much the same. It’s no surprise this beer is like most others of its ilk - carbonated corn water and grain. There’s nothing particular foul or sour about the palate (well, maybe there’s a hint of tang), which is good. I do detect a very subtle sugar-water flavor right as it finishes, but it’s gone as quickly as it arrives. Thankfully it finishes mostly clean, but there’s just no flavors here worth savoring.
Mouthfeel: Quite watery, but heavier than your average macro lager. Surprisingly soft and wet and not as fizzy as other yellow lagers of the style.
Drinkability: While not a delicious, thirst-quenching beer, Red Stripe is indeed very easy to guzzle on a hot day. The 4.7% ABV is perfect as it doesn’t have the overtly watery qualities of a true "light" beer. You probably could drink several of these on end before they began to wear you down.
Overall, Red Stripe is just another generic macro lager that’s more neutral than it is bad. It has a long way to go to garner an honest recommendation from me, though.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 wlajwl (1475) - Iowa, USA - MAY 22, 2011
Slight malt sweetness up front, after that its mainly a pale lager meant to be a thirst quencher. Not bad, it has its uses on a hot day.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Sevenlee (365) - Central Coast, NSW, AUSTRALIA - MAY 22, 2011
Pours a light yellow with a small short lived head. Aroma is slighty malty and quite citrusy. Taste is also slighty malty but mainly corn with a slight floral hoppy finish. Pretty boring.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Hudspart (473) - Hudsonville, Michigan, USA - MAY 21, 2011
Not a bad plale lager. While all pale lagers suck, this beer is one of the pale lagers that sucks the least.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 badwhale (221) - Bitterville, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 21, 2011
Drank this right out of the bottle. Light body, malty flavors and pretty watery.
