Apr 17, 2009 Nothing particularly special about appearance or aroma; it’s a sort of watery brown, with a sort of watery brown head and a watery brown smell. This beer isn’t good so much as it is ’not bad’. It avoids the heavy flavors and bitterness of other relatively cheap lagers; but other than avoiding pitfalls, it has nothing going for it. Good to go with food when the food needs to be the star.

Apr 9, 2009 Bottle. Pours a medium yellow, virtually no head but some wispy notes. Aroma is mostly malt, maybe a touch of grass hidden in there. Flavor is malt, cereal, not much else. Rather bland, but I’ve had worse.

Apr 9, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a pale yellow with a small, foamy, white head. The nose is mostly grain with a bit of hops. Medium-high carbonation with a light mouthfeel. Quite a bit of malt sweetness. Grain, corn, and a hint of sugar on the palate. At least a little more hops would make this a bit more refreshing. Fuller bodied than most American versions of the style. Finishes pretty clean with some lingering sweetnes.

Apr 7, 2009 Clear gold yellow pour with a thin disappearing white head. Honey sweet and some funky bitter aroma. Taste is very grainy. Clean and crisp though.

Apr 6, 2009 Bottle 12oz. It’s been quite a while since i had one of these. I drank it when i was in Jamaca - right after landing the plane someone came and sold it to people on the bus. In fact the 1993 movie "The Firm" came out after our trip and was advertising the beer on some of the sceens in Jamaca. The ratings are about what i remember, a foul taste. It seemed like a weak beer, not much good beer flavor at the time; and i was a bud man back then. That was my one and only Red Stripe. Not to blame it on the beer, but i was sick for two weeks after my trip with some kind of parasite. uhg

Apr 6, 2009 Bottle. Pours a very light yellow with a decent full head. Aroma is a light metallic funk... typical lager smell. Very sweet, grassy flavor... fades back to that metallic taste at the finish. Better than many other of its ilk, nonetheless.
