One of the more fun imports. Excellent on a hot summer day.

This clearly isn’t the same beer I used to drink years ago...the ownership probably has considerably to do with this disappointing state of affairs. In any event, the present edition of this beer is still drinkable, but its bite now seems to owe to extra carbonation that substitutes for its previous assertive hop profile that used to make this brew so distinctive. There is still an undercurrent of malt that provides a hint of sweetness, but the balance of flavors just isn’t there anymore. It finishes dry but without lingering benefit. The head dissipates quickly after pouring. Overall, this is a beer to drink for a hot day...not unpleasant, but not even a ghost of the tropical classic it used to be.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
The only redemption for this beer is that it isn’t offensive. And that you should have bought it while baking in the Carribean sun. About as good as your old familiar American lager benchmarks.

1.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20
Back in 1988 this was the best stuff you could buy. Then I realized that the imported stuff was a ton different that the stuff that they sell in the old country. (Alcohol was aboout 2% more) Back in those days the bottle was green and ten times stronger. A trip to Jamaica proved that the beer which I loved in Jamaica was really very bad and only improved upon when the extra ’imported only’ alcohol was added to it. The regular stuff sucks big time. Old Mil. Swear.

Malty smell. Golden, fluffy head. Sweet, almost no bitterness. Sticky texture. Ordinary.

1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Not much flavour here. Carbonated mineral water with some malts and hops added. Probably an OK beach beer in the Jamaica heat, brewing it in Europe seems like a bad joke. Cute bottle.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Not a horrible beer, but I’d rather have a Corona, which should say something. heavy carbonation, with a strange light malt flavor at the finish. not excited about this one at all.

1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bubbles! Pale color (not as yellow as the Budweiser sitting next to it). This was fine with a curry (where carbonation is an advantage) but in the end, there’s nothing to this--flavorless, boring beer.
