2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 JesseM (918) - Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 16, 2010
473mL can from my local Liccbow. I can’t believe I haven’t had this before, I even own a Red Stripe bamboo mug. Pours a bright gold with a medium white froth. The aroma is your typical grainy adjunct laden malt character with some peppery hop notes underneath. Not revolting. Flavour is corny, grainy sweet, with a tiny hop zing in the fizzy finish. Again, not revolting. Decent as a refresher and pretty much what I expected. This can has to be pretty fresh which helps a lot.

I had a ton of these while in Jamaica. I tried to stay with the light beer since I was going crazy on the all-inclusive food, but I found regular Red Stripe was substantially superior to the light version in every way and needed the pleasant flavor now and then. A fine lager.

Red Stripe was my first favorite beer. Goes well with a lime too, if you are inclined. Best for Mexican food or the beach.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2010 One of the better "Pop" beers you will find (Pop as in Popular). A near perfect beer for any occasion. So smooth it goes down like water, unfiltered, impoverished, Jamaican water.

It seems I find a different Red Stripe recipe with every bottle I buy. I’ve had a few that are worse than Busch Light, but some that are excellent for their price! If I get one of the good batches, I’ve got to say that Red Stripe is one of my social drinking beers of choice.

(12 ounce bottle - Pint glass) Pours a yellow color that has no head. Aroma is malty. Has a ceral malt taste with little hops to balance it out. Too expansive for what it is.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 asheft (2030) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 6, 2010
[bottle]
Weak hay aroma with some base malt. Clear brownish appearance with a thin, white cover. Corny, DMS crisp malt flavour with a little ethanol tang. Decent example of a pale American lager--something to compete with Pabst Blue Ribbon but with more body. Low bitterness. Light to medium body, medium carbonation, almost clean, crisp finish.
