First brewed in 1938.
It is a light alcohol drink with not too strong bitterness but rather soft taste; therefore, itís easy to drink it up.
Brewed for the UK market by Charles Wells since 1976.
Brewed for US market at City Breweryís Latrobe plant since 2012.

Literally my favorite beer, a premium brand fresh from the shores of Jamaica. It tastes good and makes you look cool while youíre drinking it. Itís also a talking point as it is fairly unknown, for example "Hey, whatís that?" "Why, itís Red Stripe, a delicious Jamaican lager beer" "May I try some" "Absolutely" and so on. Would recommend, 10/10.

Kind of smells like an old pile of hay that got sprayed by a skunk, or pissed on by a cat or....something equally appealing. Taste is slightly better - more like corn syrup, club soda and hay. Slight bit of bitterness on the finish makes this almost vaguely palatable, but the best part of this beer is still the bottle it comes in.

Pours pale straw. Aroma is musty yeast and wet cardboard. Taste is mostly grain and yeast. Effervescent. Palate is watery. Overall, its gassy, bland and skunky. On the other hand, compared to most giant, US main line beers in the category, it might be OK. I just don?t have the tolerance.

Aroma is a skunky grassiness. Fortunately the skunk doesnít last long....Appearance, it pours a less than medium fizzy thin head, does that make sense? Itís a pretty good head, but fizzy, itís weird....Taste, fortunately, it makes up for some bad first impressions, because it tastes pretty dadgum good, better than what I was expecting. Iím not sure what Iím tasting, but I like it...Mouthfeel, itís still fizzy, and itís a medium body, and pretty good...Overall, Iíve had it before, wasnít impressed, not impressed now. The bottle looks cool~~

White head. Pale golden clear. Aroma of grainy hops growing from a cow dung. Tastes dirty hops, grains, pale caramel malts. Malty finish with some bread. Pale body. Pale lager. [330ml spec.btl, abv4.7%, BB12oct2015, 3Ä, B@Kilpishalli Finland]

Why why why? Nostalgia, thatís why. The heavy metal pub I frequented at 18 - red stripe. Very dodgy university nights - red stripe. Is it any good - hmmm? But, extra points scored for critical lifestyle moments involving this beer!

Bottle (shared with friends). Refreshing. Good, enjoyable if drink cold. Watery, but not bad for lager.

After a long day of work, drinking with a mate who cares little for interacting beer makes this one acceptable. Not offensive but drinkable if cold.
