First brewed in 1938.
It is a light alcohol drink with not too strong bitterness but rather soft taste; therefore, it’s easy to drink it up.
Brewed for the UK market by Charles Wells since 1976.
Brewed for US market at City Brewery’s Latrobe plant since 2012.

Drank from a bottle at a beach bar. Fresh but basic lager. There’s a slight hint of malts in the taste.

Pours a pale gold color with white head. Funk, grain, and some skunk on the nose; follows onto the palate. Not absolutely terrible, but not overly pleasant either. Finishes dirty.

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 01.01.2015
Aroma is mild and unpleasant with wet paper and some harsh malt. Also distant buttery tones. Flavour has wet paper, some buttery tones, herbal hops and harsh malt. Also bush leaves. Not as bad as I expected but bad still.

Better than the worst macros, depending on your preferences I guess. Sweet but not as sweet as some. Corn syrup.

This one has the faint hops aroma so typical of many lagers. It is light gold in appearance. There isn’t anything remarkable about the head. The taste is a bit weak, again nothing stands out.

(1116-210614)

When we went to Jamaica our bus driver asked if we wanted to stop on the hour and a half drive to get some red stripe. The idiots on the bus with us asked if they had anything domestic.

Bottle@vacation. Head: fast shrinking white. Colour: clear, golden. Aroma: vague hops and malt. Taste: mild bitter-sweet. Palate: refreshing, some bitter finish, moderate CO2. Overal: ok.

It is impressive that the brewery has made a beer with lighter color than Budweiser. But the taste is also less than in most of the American "pisswater"-beers, or rather, it tastes like zero, nothing. There is no taste at all in this beer. The only positive thing about this beer is that it does not taste bad. It makes it slips down quite easily.

I’ve always pooh-poohed this beer, but when a friend said it was his favorite, I used that as an excuse to try it. I found it to be a very smooth and great tasting pilsner-like lager. Hop head should steer clear. It reminded me a bit of Mama’s Little Yella Pils.
