joepa (1), USA does not count Jun 22, 2007 Better than US macros, but probably only because of a lack of skunkiness. So not outstanding. Zero complexity. Close to no hops. Sweet and very tingly on the palate (from carbonation), almost like a soda. Maybe a decent session, if you don’t have much to choose from.
On a whim, I decided to pour 1/2 a bottle of Red Stripe into a pint glass, then I filled the rest of the glass with cranberry juice, similar to what they do in the UK and parts of the US when making a Shandy (lemonade and cheap lager). It actually made for a nice combination. The tartness of the juice helps to balance out the sweetness of this particular beer. GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Jun 21, 2007 Pours a pale yellow color w/ a short lived, medium sized, spritzy spattered froth. Very little residal lacing. Aroma of skunky, grassy malts. Light to medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. A malty brew w/ no character. Grainy and chalky w/ an annoying acidity. The finish is bittered nicely. pintocb (508), Darsville, Georgia, USA Jun 19, 2007 Yellow and fizzy looking. Some bready smells. Corn and bread with a bitter finish....am I actually tasting a little hoppiness? Wow...... Allen (1288), Switzerland Jun 18, 2007 Bottled 33cl. A yellow beer with a small fast diminishing head. The nose is of cereals and malt. Slightly sour, sweet and biscuitty. Lots of cereals in the taste, again some sourness, sweet. Some rotten banana and sugar. A pale lager with a low carbonation. Somewhat biscuitty but in a mediocre way. A very poor finish follows. jmglov (15), Tokyo, Japan Jun 16, 2007 Bottle. More yellow than gold. Almost no head. One appearance point for the distinctive bottle. Almost no head. Aroma is faintly reminiscent of tobacco, with some ginger mixed in. Flavour is sweet and hoppy, tasting a bit of apple. Heavily carbonated, feels like ginger ale in the mouth. A nice summer beer. kimcgolf (824), Dacula, Georgia, USA Jun 15, 2007 Not much here..........a typical Caribean beer that tastes good when eating coconut based foods, near water, listening to island music, but not much in the actual quality department. Light, grainy aroma and flavor, a short finish. But if you’re in the setting that calls for this kind of beer, this is actually one of the better ones. BEEJE26 (40), Ontario, Canada Jun 13, 2007 This is a great summer beer. It’s very light and refreshing. It goes down very easy, and leaves a light aftertaste. tjthresh (1748), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Jun 12, 2007 Had a bottle with lunch today. Yellow with a white head. Loads of carbonation. Grainy aroma. Corny flavor. Typical.
