Dacrza (618) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - AUG 9, 2013
DATE TASTED: August 9, 2013 ... GLASSWARE: pilsner... OCCASION: continuing a pleasant evening alone ... APPEARANCE: pale golden body with disparate bubbles rising intermittently; two-finger head settles out to a semi-foamy froth that holds stronger than expected... AROMA: a metallic ping flicks the nostrils while corn and syrupy sugars pungently remind me this is a watered-down lager... PALATE: thin, slightly oily; easy drinking, if not for the...TASTE: whoo, haven’t had this in a while, and I recall what happens when sentiment is sifted from the senses: sentiment is "this is the fun shore beer that is sold by that cool Jamaican dude in the TV ads"; the senses say "this is a funky hay-worn adjunct that has minimal profile beyond the sweet forty-ounce malts that wrestle the tongue".... OVERALL: Tough to distinguish this lager from any other mass-produced pilsner, save for the cute bottle and Jamaican locale--and even that is untrue, as the label sports Old Latrobe as its brewing and bottling site; as the second beer of the night, a mouth rinser that is little more than a cheap summer uplift...

Pours a light yellow color with a very light foamy head and minimal carbonation. Has a light hop smell to it. Has a nice and light smooth taste to it and the palate leaves the mouth a little dry afterwards, not a bad beer.

Pours a light gold with small white cap. Aroma of sweet grain and syrup. Wow! Not much of anything to report. Soft carbonation, practically no taste, small grassy, hay note right at the end. Staggeringly bland.

Bottle from saveur-biere: Aroma is unpleasant sourly/grainy. Pale yellow color, white head. Flavor is corn, grain, acid. More or less quite ugly.

A particularly bad macro lager. Sweeter than most European offerings, and absolutely nothing else to it. Complete rubbish.

Generic macro lager, to be drunk quickly, served very cold. Little of interest .

Red Stripe is a fairly decent thirst quencher. Strangely a vegetal aroma but not in the taste. Taste has some corn sugar or maybe some light molasses notes giving it a somewhat cidery aftertaste in the palate. Probably the best of the few Caribbean lagers out there. Little hops and light malts.

473ml can. Pours a clear, pale yellow with a one finger, whore head. Aroma has sweet grains, traditional spicy/earthy hops, and some adjunct notes. Taste is a balanced bitter. Slightly sweet grains, touch of caramel, mild hop notes, and a short ending. Medium body and carbonation. Clean and refreshing in the mouth. Overall pretty standard. Could be anyone of a hundred lagers out there.

Muy clara y pálida. Espuma normal 2 dedos. Nada apreciable en el aroma, malteado, vulgar. Lo más destacado en boca es que es muy carbónica. Cuerpo medio, amargor ligero. Refrescante, sin más.
