I will try to restrain the negative comments because as abhorrent as I found the taste this is a genuinely accomplished beer. It pours chestnut brown, with mocha head. Initially mountainous froth but does dissipate into a sudsy 2-finger head. Aroma is a beautiful balance between citrus hops and dark malts. Grapefruit, orange fight with chocolate, coffee roasted malts. Taste is a little smoky, roasted malt driven. Coffee, chocolate, tobacco, while the citrus squeaks. It really is revolting to me. The roasted malt bitterness is dialed right up. I’m just not a fan of the flavor palate but the pronounced flavors in such a low ABV beer is astounding. If you like roasted malts, black IPA’s and want lower calorie/low alcohol alternative I cannot imagine a better beer.

Bottle at World Cup Brasil tasting. Dark brown body with a medium light brown head. Hops, citrusfruit. Nice and hoppy. World class mild ale.

Dark brown/black with a massive beige head. Aroma of citrus hops, yeast, roast malt. Taste is light sweet with light bitter finish. Oily texture, low/medium carbonation. Good beer.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Clear, very dark, reddy brown. Huge, bubbly, lasting, tan head. Lovely aroma of Vimto cordial. Pine resin. Chocolate malt. Taste is red fruit dry. Fair amount of pithy bitterness, too. Decent body, given the ABV. Finish is dry, with a long, lingering, grapefruit bitterness. Excellent.

Bottle from Glug, Newcastle. This hazy dark brown beer has chocolate and tropical fruit flavours, sweet citrus notes and a slight roasted finish. Absolutely Amazing flavour for such a weak ABV beer!

330ml Bottle - Dark brown with red tinges and a foamy head. Soapy hops, pine and liquorice in the aroma. Roasted, hoppy and slightly metallic taste with notes of soapy hops, liquorice and roasted malt. Not really a mild in my book, more like a low strength black IPA.

[ As Redchurch Broadway Black Pale ].
Clear medium to dark brown color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, grapefruit. Flavour is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a average to long duration, citrus, hoppy, dry, thin. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20140217]

330ml bottle from Ales by Mail

BBE 9.8.2014 - Pours dark brown, almost black with a thick head. Aroma of pure hops, loads of grass, exotic fruits, citrus, resinous notes and pine. Some mild hints of caramel and malts. Taste is smooth, hoppy and watery with grass, fruits, some hints of toasty malts, nuts and caramel. Finish is hoppy, watery and slightly malty with hints of licorice, lingering bitterness and grass. Quite light bodied, but still surprisingly complex for the low ABV. Feels like a watered down version of a nice hoppy black IPA. A tasty sessionable beer nevertheless.

33cl bottle from ABCBeers. Thick creamy off white head. Clear black pour. Lovely bitterness. Very good for the low ABV
