Big on flavour and satisfyingly refreshing. A traditional bitter beer with a modern edge. Immediate malt character from the maris otter, crystal and chocolate malts balanced perfectly with a big citrusy hop aroma from the bags of new world hops.

300 ml bottle drank at Les Vignerons. Dark amber, slightly hazy, with a tiny, creamy and persistent yellowish head. Fruity and toffee forward nose, a hint of grapefruit marmelade, light roots as well. Quite resiny and herbal overall. Taste follow suite, nutty and slightly toasted, big caramel malts presence, strangely a bit of boozy astringency too. Velvety mouthfeel, moderate to high bitterness with a pleasent sugary feeling. Average carbonation, medium body, oily texture. Not what I was expecting, but nice nonetheless.

33 cl bottle. BBE 20.06.2015.
Pours dark red color with a large head. Lots of mandarin and floral hops on the nose, some resinous notes, pine and maybe some caramel-y malts too. Juicy fruity flavor, orange and bitter malts, lots of resin too. A bit sweet but decent hop profile. Okay.

A classic one with classic hops and citrus in the aroma. Enjoyed it with its crispy taste and some vanilla in the back. A bit special and slightly skunky but not what you would call boring at all.

Bottle from Ales by Mail. The beer has got a deep amber colour with a low steady head and medium body. Aroma of hops and malt with some vanilla hints. Taste of mild hops, pine, malt, barley, bread, flowers and mild citrus fruits. Hints of caramel and vanilla. Easy to drink, refreshing. Good beer.

Pint in Shakespeare pub, Sheffield. Close to the perfect beer. Pours a deep red which was a little surprising having read the name. Intensely hoppy nose, and even hoppier taste. As much flavour as most strong American IPAs, but at 5.5% much easier on the ABV.
