Rich and chocolatey A proper imperial stout brewed with chocolate & caramel malts, and dark roasted barley. The flavour is immediately rich and chocolatey, giving way to espresso notes. It finishes with a great waft of citrus from a generous blend of our favourite hops.

Medium aroma of malts, caramel, chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, hops, citrus and brettanomyces.

Opaque black beer with slight yeast and with a medium brown/dark brown head.

Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel and chocolate; ends slightly bitter, dry and sour with roasted malts, coffee, hops, citrus and brettanomyces.

This beer is rather intense and complex, but lacks balance. I see a lot of other people saying it is rather funky, so I guess that this is intended. Really strange thanks to this in both the aroma and flavour, but still rather tasty.

1/3 pint pour from tap into tulip at Hanging Bat in Edinburgh. All around a solid stout. Straight forward and well done. Dark drown, brown head, opaque. Chocolate on the nose with a little coffee. Very creamy and smooth. Taste is fairly dry, chocolate, coffee, maltiness. Very nice.

Drank with Kaspar at my place 23-12-2015. For a low ABV stout, this one has pretty much taste. Liked the beer.

Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, fruits, berries and pine. Almost black with a tan head. Medium sweet and medium to heavy bitter. Medium to full body with a average carbonation. Overall this is a very enjoyable well hopped Stout, more like a BIPA than a traditional stout.

Black with airy tan head. Aroma has roasted malt, hops and chocolate. Flavour has more chocolate, coffee and good hoppy bitterness. Lasting, solid bitterness with notes of licorice appearing towards finish. Carb seems rather high, which detracts a little. Otherwise quite nice hoppy stout.

Pitch black body with a large, creamy, brown head that laces the glass excellently, and settles as a fully lasting layer of a decorative thickness. The aroma is strong and is as hoppy as it’s malty: this is no stout, it’s a BIPA! I get lots of roasted malt, coffee, tropical fruits, grapefruit and pine. The BIPA feeling is definitely there in the strong flavour as well, and I get the same notes as in the aroma. The taste is light to moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter. The body is medium, it’s dry and has a moderate carbonation. I’m extremely surprised that this is not listed as a BIPA, it would be my definition of the style! Maybe they’ve tweaked the recipe? Or is it too black? Nevertheless, absolutely delicious!
