Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Golden with a creamy head. Copper-gold with a creamy head. Hoppy but there’s a fair whack of toffee-caramel in its aroma and taste. Has a bitterness.

500ml bottle. Chrystal clear, orangey, deep golden colour with average, thick, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Cautious citrusy hoppy aroma, hints of kiwifruit and gooseberry, a floral touch, lemon biscuit basis. Taste is fruity hoppy, gooseberry and kiwi again, slightly sweet pale malty basis, quite explicit notes of honeydew melon; super-soft palate. Very gentle, subtle, cautious - pubescent West Coast swank antipode.

Bottle from Ales by Mail. Good looking copper coloured beer, foamy bubbly white head. It’s a little yeasty in both aroma and taste initially, but has a pleasant warming finish, rounded and a little creamy. Grassiness creeps in very late on, there’s a bit of woodiness then some more yeast and medicinal notes. Slightly mixed up, interesting, could do with a bit more refinement
