Poured a medium brown with some haze. Unexpectedly hoppy. Some nice malt characters to balance out the flavors. Roasted nuts, caramel, perfume, floral, some bits of orange peel. Smooth. Easy to drink.

Bottle. Copper pour with a short, beige head. Aroma is hoppy, malty and lightly smoky. First taste is chewy, sweet malt, then caramel, followed by citrusy and piney hops and lastly smokey notes. Then comes light wood, soft vanilla, and light honey. Body is medium with a chewy feel and a moderate carbonation. Finishes with smoldering wood, caramel, light vanilla, citrus notes, pine resins, sweet malt and light honey.

Minimal head of fine bubbles that dissipates quickly. Nice hoppy and sweet malts aroma witha bit of apricot and some caramel. Color is a cloudy crimson brown. Much more bitter flavor that I expected. Quite dry and a bit chalky and astringent. Dry malts, bitter tea leaves and some roasted grains. Lots of floral hops. Noticable alcohol presence and warming. A pretty good but very hoppy brew.

Tasted on 7/6/11 from a 22oz bomber bottle, Spring 2010 vintage. Pours hazy dark amber with a thick beige head that slowly recedes to spotty lace with a decent collar of lace. The nose is very malty with tons of caramel and brown sugar along with some bread, dark fruits, light bitterness, and some earthy dried leaves. The flavor is lightly sweet caramel and brown sugar malt up front, moving to the more bitter, almost burnt notes, and a bit of earthy dried leaves. The body is full with just lighter than average carbonation and a long burnt caramel and lightly bitter finish.

Not sure I get the haters. Pours an amber with some head, clear. Nose is tannin and honey. Flavor is honey light sweetness with a bitter, oaky finish. Like OBAB without the expensive price tag.

22. Pours a murky dark brown with a dense and somewhat pillowy tannish head. Nice caramel and brown bread nose. Creamy medium body with mild carb. Toast, caramel, brown bread, and a bit of molasses on the mid-palate. Mild yeasty tang in there, vaguely reminiscent of fruitcake with dark pitted tree fruit in it but that’s a distant note, nowhere near the foreground by any means. Mild caramel and toast finish. Doesn’t have as much flavor as you might expect for the abv, even given a brown as a base recipe. There are definitely more assertive browns out there with half the alcohol. Still, it’s appealing, and hides the alcohol well enough, even if it is a bit on the mild side in terms of the flavor profile.

Seems weird to call this an imperial brown, assuming browns can have this kind of hope edge, A soft but enveloping aroma, hops a strong minority among hte caramel, yeasty dough and (non-perfumed) soap. Sharp red-brown color with off-white sufficient head. active and fragrant in the moth. I taste caramel and a sense of a slightly darker malt, the hops, alcohol. almost mint.

Bomber pours clear mahogany with deep copper hues and short lived tan head. The modest aroma is smooth with sweet malts, some honey and sweet smelling dark fruity esters to go along with a faint background of caramel covered wood. The taste starts both smooth and rich and then ends a bit rough with booze. I get roasted malts and a bit of honey. By midway roasty malts are met with nuttiness, sweet dark fruitiness and wood. Into the finish booziness grows to sort of harsh levels before this dies off into the after taste.

Thanks for sharing, bro! Pours a dark amber color with a medium off-white frothy head. Aroma is earthy hops, brown sugar, some nutmeg and sugary spices. Taste is earthy hops, brown sugar, caramel malts, and sugary spices. Pretty good but very different. Nice to see brewers doing a different Imperial style.
