Nice start and middle; very flavorful, but the end leaves something to be desired, a bit too clean.

Bottle, Honolulu. Carmel and chocolate aroma. Very dark amber but can still see light through the beer. I like this porter, it is a good tasting beer that is not too heavy. Good on price and taste.

on Nitro at the Barley pub, Dark brown pour with beige head. aroma is some roast and some cocoa/coffee. a touch of dark fruit as well. Mouthfeel is a bit thin but the flavor is decent, though not striking, some coffee bean and milk chocolate followed by some roast at the finish. Not to bad, very drinkable, but ordinary.

Draft from a nitro tap. Pours a very deep brown with a creamy, light tan head. Light roasted notes with a little earth in the nose. Very low carbonation with a medium, creamy, yet slightly dry mouthfeel. Roasted malt, earth, mineral, and some wood on the palate. Medium finish. I would have liked a little more flavor out of this one.

Bottle. Pours a dark ruby brown with a medium cremy light tan head that diminishes quickly leaving behind decent lacing on the glass. The aroma is a fruity malt with raisin and light roast. Thin mouthfeel with a bitter taste with light coffee and chocolate. Easy to drink, a good porter from Redhook.

Bottle from 3 Sons. Nice version, with a little smoke, some caramel and nuts if just a little too much carbonation. Deep brown , no lacing and not much head.

WakeandBake (549) - Greenville, Michigan, USA - JUL 18, 2009
Bottle. A dark reddish brown color pour with a short offwhite head, medium carbonation. Aroma of coffee, rasins , and light chocolate with hints of roast. Flavor is roasty, with some chocolate and a bit of coffee , maybe a hint of hops . Thin body with a slightly oily mouthfeel , very sessionable . I find this to be one of the better offerings Iíve had from Redhook but as Porter goes itís nothing I would deem as special.

For someone who has had a good amount of porters and tried most of the best stouts in the world, this offering from Red Hook was disappointing to say the least. The aroma was of faint coffee and the pour was a pathetically small stripe of dark brown. An opaque body saves this brew for being one for the dog bowl. After drinking this watered down porter, my advice to Red Hook is to find another H20 source or use some gypsum!

On tap CC pours out a brown topped with a sandy tan head. Aroma of roast malt and some coffee. Tast not bad a little nutty and more of the coffee.

Bottle. Pours a brown body with a creamy tan head. Minerals calcium, roasted malt and nut character. Hints of burnt coffee and a note of chocolate rounding out to a bitter coffee finish. Thin body, its okay.
