Draft. Pours black with a lasting beige head. Light coffee aroma with a bit of caramel as well. Medium smooth body. Flavor is the same as the aroma. Not bad, but pretty unimpressive.

Bottle... Poured deep black with amber highlights and a brown head. Aroma of chalky malt and subtle coffee. Strong roasted malt flavors which are complemented by smooth chocolate and coffee beans. Finally a Red Hook brew I actually enjoyed.

Bottle poured a clear dark brown with a minimal lingering ring of amber foam. Areomas of charcoal, coffee and roastiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, coffee, charcoal and bakers cocoa with a smooth bitter finish.

12oz bottle. Pours a dark cherry wood color with almost no head. Aroma is mild, with a scent of roasted malt and...little else. Taste is light and thin, with a flavor of coffee, roasted malt, and maybe a bit of chocolate. Disappointingly light and watery, especially for something advertised as a porter.

12oz bottle, bottled 03/10/08. Pours pitch black in color with thin light brown in color, which does not last long. Aroma roasted malt and coffee. Taste is watery, malty and bitter dark chocolate with bitter finish.

Bottle. Slightly sour, slightly grainy notes on top of an otherwise normal porter aroma, if a little faint. Dark, near pitch pour with a short beige head. Taste isn’t really roasted, but there’s enough black malt and slight ash to make up for it. Dry with those soft sour tones (though the beer itself tastes fresh and uninfected), a bit homebrew-y. Crisp light-medium body with no big alcohol showing. Dry, slightly hoppy burnt aftertaste, comparisons with Guinness are apt. A very light porter falls somewhere below average.

Nice dark clean porter! Hadnt had a chance to get this one yet until now, pretty good, could have been darker, but still tasty!

Pours dark dark brown with a tan head. Smells of coffee and dried fruit. Its a good dark porter, all the flavors of a stout are there, just a bit more subdued, the chocolate, the coffee and the dried fruit. The mouth feel is somehow creamy yet thin at the same time. Weird. I usually have medium expectations from Red Hook and this is exactly what I was expecting. A solid brew.

Had this out of the NITRO tap. Black as pitch, creamy tan head. Tastes like coffee. For all its richness in flavor it drinks like water. I think its great cus I might wanna drink more than 1 of them before getting "full".
