COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Redhook Blonde combines the best attributes of a flavorful golden ale with the refreshing qualities of a lager. The ale is brewed with three different malts and two hop varietals. Lightly roasted barley and a touch of wheat, combined with an ample portion of hops, creates a truly crowd pleasing beer . Redhook Blonde pairs well with medium flavored foods such as fish, nachos or salad. Available year round.

Bottle - Pours yellowish copper with white head that does not last. The flavor is mild malted grains, hint of fruit. Malty, doughy nose with slight hint of fruit and citrus.

Pours a clear honey with a definite layer of white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is light, with grain and a tiny bit of honey. Flavor is light as well with more grains than anything. The sweet fruitiness is definitely at a minimum. Hops come out at the end. Very light palate. Unimpressed with this beer as I have been with Red Hook in the past. Okay but far from fabulous.

slimchill (936) - Austin, Texas, USA - FEB 5, 2008
Bottle. Nose is buttery malts, very light but inviting. Absolutely clear golden yellow with a tight but small white head. This is probably underrated for its appearance, but the clarity is admirable and the pale yellow color is perfect for the style. Flavor is soft sweet grains with a dry finish. Easy drinking and refreshing palate.

Pours a clear transparent yellow. Well carbonated, thin head. Earthy grassy aroma. Some starch. Slight grainy flavor with some hops in the finish. Thin palate.

Bottle that pours clear yellow with a small head. Aroma is earthy. It is a light bodied beer with resemblance to a wheat beer but not as fruity.

Pint glass on tap at the 1954 Pizza Company, listed as Farley’s Pale Ale. The manager explained to me that it was really Redhook Blonde distributed by AB. Served way too cold, so pretty much no aroma, perhaps just the lightest straw scent. The pour was copper-gold with a small white head. The flavor had a big biscuit note and some grassy hops. The mouthfeel was bit thin with adequate carbonation. The finish was short and a tad sour. Overall: Nothing special and went it well with the pizza. Way better choice than the AB options.

Being a lighter beer, I wasn’t planning on being impressed with this one, but my wife really enjoyed it. I did enjoy the barley and wheat flavors. Won’t be buying any of this separately, but since it came in a sampler I’ll enjoy the other two.
