UPDATED: AUG 11, 2003 This beer rocks.
This beer so desperately wants to be BASS, but comes up just a bit short in almost every category. Still, an excellent blond ale. Try one... try six, I hear the business end of Redhook isn't doing so well right now.

Pour is of course golden with a large white head. Aroma is faint malts with a touch of grassy hops. Nothing really stands out but it is a nice sweet aroma. Flavor is hoppy and dry with some bitterness and a slight sweetness. This is just fine on a warm night but not much more than that. Its also fairly cheap.

This is a surprisingly complex brew. Very wheaty, with a very nice hoppy touch--almost floral nose. Satisfying--good cold or even warming. There are some sour tendencies, but this is a very nice beer. Drink it. Now.

Pours gold with a thin white head. Smells of toasted malt, some fruity hints. Tastes of sweet malt wth some fruity hints. An easy drinking lawnmower beer.

Hops and wheat in aroma. Has slight flavors of wheat, hops and sweet malts. Put a little bit of everything in this. All blends well too. Grass and floral hints. Medium body.

I apparently like this beer a good bit more than everyone else who has rated it but I honestly thought it was great. It’s certainly not something that make you take a step back and say "wow that’s an amazing beer", but it’s got decent flavor and is extraordinarily drinkable which makes it a very good everyday beer. That’s higher praise than I would give for many others...

A very good "summer" beer....light, airy taste, but not too much so...I’ve found it to be a good "dark" beer to serve friends who only drink lighter fare...very refreshing

The low ratings to date on this beer in my opinion are due mainly to the style of beer as opposed to the individual quality of this one. The fact is the darker the beer the better the grades on this site, and that’s unfortunate here. For blonde ales which are normally smooth but watered down and easy to drink, this one is packed with flavor right from the start. Sweet, barley filled aroma gives way to a fairly dense hoppy and malty beer. Pours an almost cloudy dark yellow with a decent head that stuck around for a while. Alcohol nicely hidden with a smooth finish that had me reachin’ for another sip. Deserves a lot better than 24th percentile.

Bottle from VA. Clear golden orange with no head. Sweet malted barley aroma and taste with some slight candy and vanilla notes.
