I’m liking these unique Redhook 12oz bottles. It pours out clear copper with gold hues and thin off white head. The mild aroma emits some sweet malts that border on being sweet date like as well as a bit of biscuit, a bit of floral hops and a sense of minerals. The taste is sweet with malts and then gets a bit sweet with apple and prune like fruity esters. Between these notes is a floral hop and lager yeast like quality (yes, ale with a lager like aspect) with a wafer thin biscuit malt like sensation. Easy drinkin’ but is a tad on the sweet side for my taste . . . just a tad.

Bottle @ home. Pours a clear, burnt orange appearance with a cream colored head. Toasty, bready, caramel malty, earthy hoppy aroma. Creamy, somewhat floral, mostly earthy hoppy, moderately bitter, grassy, caramel malty flavor. Not bad.

Appearance: Pours an orange-copper.
Aroma: Aroma is of light hop and some malt.
Taste: Some light bitterness, some caramel, lighter malt.
Palate:Medium light body, slick, quick finish. Covers 6% well.

Summary: This copper hook is a solid beer that is drinkable, and has decent taste but nothing sticks out.

More yellow than copper, thin white head. Malty bread, kind of plain. Lightest sweetness. Medium body. Drinkable, but not exciting...

12oz new bottle 12/5/11 (Trader Joe’s Naperville)-40° in English Pint-Pours a slightly hazy light copper color. Aroma of malt and hops. Taste of the same. This medium bodied brew is not bad but not good.

I think this bottle is a little old....but it’s OK. Has some hop kick and a little flavor but was old when we got it, malt seems decent....i’ll reserve opinion for next year.

I actually think the Copper Hook has a great smell. But there’s no head, the color is not quite as golden as I would like to see out of an amber ale, and the taste is okay on immediate impact, but the taste itself is extremely lacking.
