3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber. Poured crystal-clear reddish-orange with a short-lived, dense cap of off-white head. The aroma was very sweet, with green raisins, caramel, and honey leading.. deeper, raw alcohol amplified and came dangerously close to malt likka-ing it up on the back. The flavor found raisins, dark fruit, and honey at the core.. again a huge boozy impression was all over, heating it up and becoming quite sharp by the end.. residual sugars and boozage stuck for a while. Medium-plus bodied, and did I mention hot on the palate?.. I don’t know if age will help.

pression @ OTH.
Couleur, cuivre/acajou, mousse beige.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle from a local bottle shop. pours a vibrant dark red with a slowly growing head. sweet nose despite the Eisbock, with a little bit of spice, and pepper... as this warms it actually takes on a bit of cherry on the nose. Upping my score on the nose...
Nice thick body, a bit oily with a bitter finish. the alcohol is actually hidden pretty well, I was expecting it to be very noticeable. Other than that, the flavor seems a bit subdued, despite the "concentration" . Nice malt backbone...
I am shocked that I am one of the first to review this beer... my area of texas is usually the LAST to get anything. so I am proud to be one of the first!!
As an Eisbock, this is one of the better ones I have had, so I am reviewing to style here. Not too bad for an "illegal" US style. (according to US law, technically this is considered distillation, so it is a liquor, not a beer) Hope Red Hook doesnt get in trouble with this.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled at NH Brewfest, 10-02-10. Pour a dark ruby color with a light tan head. Aroma is sweet malt and alcohol, perhaps some dark fruit. Flavor is very sweet, chocolate covered cherries comes to mind. Some hop bite in there as well, although very much muted. Thick, warming palate with soft carbonation. Almost like sipping brandy.

Clear ruby copper, dense creamy white head. fairly boozy in the sip, some oak notes and cherry. mostly sharp, would like to age. 010811 OK so this is a 32oz growler that i filled off of a PARTY PUMP that was tapped two days prior and then sat in my fridge for two weeks. Tastes great. Rich caramel, great integrity.
