Past its prime ? Nose was sweet molasses and dark fruit. Palate is really sweet to me. Almost like drinking molasses. A couple of other things going on like nice maltiness. Can’t really get over the sweetness. Also some alcohol burn to finish.

65 cl bottle @ ISKTR. Rated on 20.03.2011
Sweet and somewhat syrupy aroma with fruits and caramel. Flavour is somewhat sweet with lots of caramel and fruity notes. Sweet and sticky, just as I expected. The sweetness is not the most disturbing kind though.

Bomber to snifter (thanks tmoney99). Looks good for the style; a semi-transparent brownish-orange with off-white lacing. Smells solid; sweet and malty. Tastes like it smells with a good mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

A very well balanced eisbock. Plenty of rich caramel flavours with a well balanced alcohol. Great eisbock!

I found this while browsing after a day of freezing my butt off. Figured a warmer would be good. Poured into a Sam Adams glass. Nice clear dark amber with a big think cream colored head. the smell is very fruity with a little sweet caramel. Also a light alcohol smell. Palate is heavy but not syrupy. Seems to fit well. The taste is fruit up front followed big malty sweet caramel. Maybe a little coffee too. Also a noticeable alcohol taste. This is my first Eisbock so I didn’t know what to expect. It’s good but probably just for a single. At 11% that’s probably good. Definitely worth a try if you find it.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Fatehunter (795) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - JUN 21, 2012
Poured from a 22oz bottle into a tulip glass. Amber and transparent. Lots of bubbles and a short quarter inch head.
Smells of apples, pears and a rich malty smell.
Taste: Sweet malt! Well, not the sweetest I have had but there is no mistaking it. It covers the "Bock" flavor well. It may be a little less sweet than other Bocks I have enjoyed, which I like about the Eisbock. It ends with an alcohol taste, which warms me up nicely.
Medium body, light carbonation. Very smooth.
A great sipping beer for a cold day.

Bottle. Poured a copper color with a small amount of off-white bubbles. Doughy, sweet bread pudding aroma with some of booze to it. Bready, doughy, toasty and caramelly tasting on a sticky body with a bit of booze on the finish. Stops just short of too sweet for me. I will not be trying this again.

Pours a cloudy amber color with little head. Aroma is of malts, dark fruit, some yeast, bark, and some booze. Flavor is similar. Malts are up front along with some figs, resin, and wood. It’s a little bit boozy. Leaves a malt and dark fruit finish.
