Bottle. Pours a beautiful dark copper with thick off white head. The nose is sweet caramel, toasty malts and a bit of spicy alcohol. Palate is thick and silky. Flavor is sweet cinnamon, vanilla, nutty malts, and a little alcoholy whiskey spice on the finish. Loved it.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 jimhilt (2273) - Bow, New Hampshire, USA - FEB 9, 2011
Pours a one finger khaki head that fades quickly to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Nice crystal clear copper/red color. Medium carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Nose is light caramel, flavor is a malty caramel. The high ABV is hidden, but is warming. Nice industrial strength (11% ABV) Eisbock. Worth trying at $8.40 for a 22oz frosted brown bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, ME.

A sweet malty aroma. This is pretty tasty. Quite a bit of sweetness, some hops near the end. Just a bit chalky though. Tasty stuff.

Aroma: Strawberries, fresh, sweet, some spices.
Taste: Alcohol is masked brilliantly. Medium-bodied, slight sweetness. Long aftertaste. Complexity in flavor.
Overall: An excellent bock. Strong but refreshing, fruity and complex.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 SPDickerman (698) - Texas, USA - JAN 8, 2011
Pours very red copper with off-white fluffy head. Smells extremely malty, bread-like. Tastes like caramel and alcohol, not much hop flavor present. Full-bodied with a creamy, smooth texture and mild mouth-carbonation, Redhook Eisbock 28 Limited Release finishes sweet and smooth, though not the easiest thing to drink.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Palidor19 (2727) - Brandon, Florida, USA - JAN 5, 2011

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 KAggie97 (3530) - Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA - NOV 7, 2010
Bottle. Pours cohesive and light mahogany with auburn highlights and a thick, off-white head. Aroma is buttered sugar toast with a light sprtizing (shut it) of bready syrup and sweetened leaves. Delicate touch of butterscotch as well. Flavor is raisin sugar bread and cherry malt, with syrupy biscuit and prune in a light schnapps sauce. Alcohol is very warming, especially in the belly. Thick and lingering on the tongue, like light molasses. This beer, at 11 % ABV, could be excessive and obnoxious but it is rather pleasant with just enough aggressiveness to make it interesting.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 crusianbeer (116) - Texas, USA - OCT 8, 2010
bottle from a local bottle shop. pours a vibrant dark red with a slowly growing head. sweet nose despite the Eisbock, with a little bit of spice, and pepper... as this warms it actually takes on a bit of cherry on the nose. Upping my score on the nose...
Nice thick body, a bit oily with a bitter finish. the alcohol is actually hidden pretty well, I was expecting it to be very noticeable. Other than that, the flavor seems a bit subdued, despite the "concentration" . Nice malt backbone...
I am shocked that I am one of the first to review this beer... my area of texas is usually the LAST to get anything. so I am proud to be one of the first!!
As an Eisbock, this is one of the better ones I have had, so I am reviewing to style here. Not too bad for an "illegal" US style. (according to US law, technically this is considered distillation, so it is a liquor, not a beer) Hope Red Hook doesnt get in trouble with this.
