COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Redhook ESB is modeled after the premium Extra Special Bitters found in English pubs. Brewed since 1987, this full-bodied amber ale is Redhook’s signature brew with its toasted malt flavor and pleasant finishing sweetness. Its eminently drinkable style has established Redhook ESB as a benchmark brew in the amber ale category. The well-rounded finish of Redhook ESB makes it a wonderful companion to grilled meats. It is also great with game and cheeses. Available year round.

Pours a reddish caramel with aroma of hops and slight sweetness. A taste of mild caramel and an easy finish. Overall more refreshing and easy drinking than I expected, a good beer!

Aroma is slightly citrus hops and mild yeast fruit. Appearance: Copper, clear with substantial head. Good lacing. Flavor is Mostly malt sweetness with just a touch of bitterness. Overall, slightly sweet. Low carbonation. Medium body, foamy mouthfeel. A decent go-to beer and a good craft "intro" beer for dads, uncles, and college students.

Purchased this one in Nashville on my trip there. This version comes from the Portsmouth, NH brewery for the east coast folks. Pours a clean amber colour with an off-white soapy head with decent wavy lacing. Malty nose (caramel and mild grain) with some vegetable notes and light fruits (peaches, cherries). Caramel malt taste with the fruits again coming in the background. Maybe, more different fruits are present in the flavours. Not really close to the English ESB that I have had, and love. Still a decent brew.
