COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Redhook ESB is modeled after the premium Extra Special Bitters found in English pubs. Brewed since 1987, this full-bodied amber ale is Redhook’s signature brew with its toasted malt flavor and pleasant finishing sweetness. Its eminently drinkable style has established Redhook ESB as a benchmark brew in the amber ale category. The well-rounded finish of Redhook ESB makes it a wonderful companion to grilled meats. It is also great with game and cheeses. Available year round.

Pours a hazy yellow with a moderate white head. It has an aroma of sweet malt with some grapefruit hops in the background. It tastes of a sweet, yeasty malt with some grapefruit hops lingering in the back. It’s not a bad beer, but was a bit bland for my taste. Still, a pretty good beer that’s worth drinking.

Bottled, Exbeerience. Clear golden pour with a white head on it. Aroma is a little buttery and nutty, caramel, light fruit, and maybe a hint of hops. The flavor also starts out caramelly, nutty, and buttery as well, finishes with a light spicy hop bite and a bit of astringency. Moderately full mouthfeel, pretty bubbly. Not bad, but a little flawed and not too exciting. I would consider this a good, accessible entry point for people just getting interested in craft beer.

Medium dark amber color with a small brownish white head. Smells of hops. Deliciously smooth and light carbonation. Overall an above average ESB. Despite the name, not too strong.

Despite its rather mediocre rating here, I enjoyed this beer. A decent malt and hop balance with slightly lighter feel than say an English Pale Ale such as Fullers, but good nonetheless.

Nice ale, had a yeasty or dough-like aroma which I wasn’t expecting. Tasted a little bit of cherry and just a bit sweet for my liking.

Draft in a pint glass at Mulligan’s in Cincinnati. Pours a mostly clear gold-amber color with a half-inch thick eggshell white head. Aroma of citrusy hops, grains, sweet malts, caramel, and grass. Flavor is pretty close to that, with citrusy hops, grains, sweet caramel malts, and grassy and earthy notes. Light-medium bodied, with gentle carbonation and a tea-like mouthfeel. Not particularly memorable.

I enjoy the sublime infusion that meshes with each passing sip. the taste is rustic yet enchanting with hints of brown topedoes sailing at full force. not with standing any set backs this brew lends a hand to the ultimate taste satisfaction that overwhelms all avenues. a solid brew that does not dissapoint.

Not sure how I’ve missed this rating. 12oz bottle. Aroma of toasted caramel malts, cascade hop florals, and butter. Pours a pale orange with a white head. Flavor is of ripe cherries, caramel malts, bitter pine hop. Finishes with a bit of spruce flavor. Well balanced, nice lacing, nice hops, nice toast. Better than I expected. How’d I miss it?
