COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Redhook ESB is modeled after the premium Extra Special Bitters found in English pubs. Brewed since 1987, this full-bodied amber ale is Redhook’s signature brew with its toasted malt flavor and pleasant finishing sweetness. Its eminently drinkable style has established Redhook ESB as a benchmark brew in the amber ale category. The well-rounded finish of Redhook ESB makes it a wonderful companion to grilled meats. It is also great with game and cheeses. Available year round.

Bottle.Amber color with moderate white head. Sweet grains and bready aroma with little of the expected hoppiness for an ESB. Malty flavor up front with some bitterness on the back of the tongue with a rather dry finish - a little metallic too. Medium body, with mild carbonation.

Smells somewhat zesty. Fresh smelling with some hops notes. Taste is similar to the smell, zesty fresh hop flavor up front with a nice malt back. Not the best ESB Ive had, by far, but a nice offering from Red Hook

Good overall ale from Red Hook. Enjoy the rich flavor of this one and very smooth. Copper colored with white head. Again very smooth taste.

Tap at the Bob Hope Airport. Pours with a small, off-white head with decent lacing and a clear gold body. Aroma is malty and toasty with raw grain with light honey and some caramel. Flavor has a fruity hop up front with a clean, long lasting malty finish with a few fruity esters and some huskiness. Watery mouthfeel, light carbonation.

On tap @ brewery. A good standard brew. Decent head, decent aromas, mild fruity qualities mingle with lightly sugared malts and quiets hops. farily well balanced. Not overly copmplex but all things considered it is a good example of the style and a solid middle of the road offering.

12 oz bottle. Pours a lighter yellow/amber color with a minimal head that is lacking some retention. However, there was some decent lacing. Aroma is caramel and malt and I get a touch of DMS mixed with slight skunking...in a brown bottle? Flavor is nice and smooth. There’s hints of caramel malts and just a slight hint of bitterness to round everything out at the end. The mouthfeel is nice and rich, full. I see why a lot of people drink this beer, but it’s not totally for me.

A 12 oz bottle. The beer poured a amber body with a creamy smooth head. The smell is of carmel malt and faint hops. The taste is light sweetness and malt. Nice carbonation and lacing. A easy to drink beer that has flavor and smoothness.
