COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Redhook ESB is modeled after the premium Extra Special Bitters found in English pubs. Brewed since 1987, this full-bodied amber ale is Redhook’s signature brew with its toasted malt flavor and pleasant finishing sweetness. Its eminently drinkable style has established Redhook ESB as a benchmark brew in the amber ale category. The well-rounded finish of Redhook ESB makes it a wonderful companion to grilled meats. It is also great with game and cheeses. Available year round.

12 oz. bottle from six pack. Pours a mainly transparent dark amberish hue with a lot of carbonation in the body and decent white head atop that coats the glass as I progress. Aromas of english malts and hops, typical of what I’d expect of an ESB. Initial taste is lighter in body and taste with a nice malt presence, a decent hop profile, and a taste that fades to the back. Boring finish and forgettable aftertaste. I like the brew but think there are much better ESBs around that I would rather have (since this is my favorite style).

12oz bottle from sampler case. Pours a light copper, lighter than I expected. Floral nose with some hops. Thin off-white head that disapates quickly but leaves a nice lace on the glass. Extremely well balanced between the sweetness of the malt and the piney Cascade hops. Enjoyed this very much.

On draft at Red Robin. Traditional amber color, 2 cm of off-white head. Coating lace. Nose is wheat and copper. Crisp grains, clear hop presence, with slight metal in the finish. High carbonation and medium/full body. Decent beer. Nothing special.

good cheap Esb. Not much more to say, Poured honey amber with a tint of fluffy white head. Tasted a bit metallic but not too bad. LOL LOL LOL

This beer poured a clear amber with no head. Decent amount of bitter but balanced citrus fruit, moderately hopped, good beer to offer to those who hesitate to the hops. Particurarly fruity in the finish.

I had this at the brewery. It is a decent beer even though it isn’t my style. Nice copperish color, good hops. Bit of sourness on the tongue makes it interesting. Ok.

Nicely balanced toward the hops. And like the commercial description, a ’pleasant finish’. Good for a session beer or just something not too fancy to bring to a friend’s bbq.
