COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Redhook ESB is modeled after the premium Extra Special Bitters found in English pubs. Brewed since 1987, this full-bodied amber ale is Redhook’s signature brew with its toasted malt flavor and pleasant finishing sweetness. Its eminently drinkable style has established Redhook ESB as a benchmark brew in the amber ale category. The well-rounded finish of Redhook ESB makes it a wonderful companion to grilled meats. It is also great with game and cheeses. Available year round.

Not the best bitter, certainly not the worst. Nothing too big about this beer, but a good drink none the less. Medium taste, slight hops, a little bit of wheat flavor to me. Still a good beer after many years.

Poured a copper color from the bottle. Smells delightful. Taste goes from slightly sour to punchy bitter. Not terribly complex, but tasty nonetheless.

Soft fruity nose. Orange/red with medium head. Excellent balance, solid malts with good bitterness. Full bodied, biscuit finish. Really tasty beer. Good for just about any occasion.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a thin head. Aroma is balanced, with good tones of roasted malt, mild hops, and a slight bit of spice. Taste is medium-bodied and dry, with a similarly balanced taste of roasted malt and floral hops with a slightly bitter finish. Not a bad beer, though there are much better bitters just as readily available.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2008 12oz bottle: pours amber brown with long lasting off white head, aroma is kind of bland just simple pale malt, flavor is just slightly better than the aroma, kind of bland, pale malt with some bitterness coming through. not hooked on this one.

Smells a little bit like vomit. A nice clean, lightly bitter taste, slightly sweet. A little watery. Could stand to be more hops for sure.

Silght hazy orange copper color with a thin off white head. Malty bready aroma and slight indication of hops. Full body and mid carbonation. Thin malt flavor thats almost fruity. Soft bitter bite of hops. Fairly even finish. An average esb. I like mine to have more complexities.

Aroma of light roasted malt with somewhat floral hop. Coppery kind of color with a white head that didn’t amount to much. Pleasant surprise. NIce floral hop, with possibly a bit of citrus, and some roasted malt. Very like an English ESB, but more strong in flavor. Medium body with mild carbonation. Pleasant drink. Finish is not overly anything. Nice balance. Good taste.
