COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Redhook ESB is modeled after the premium Extra Special Bitters found in English pubs. Brewed since 1987, this full-bodied amber ale is Redhook’s signature brew with its toasted malt flavor and pleasant finishing sweetness. Its eminently drinkable style has established Redhook ESB as a benchmark brew in the amber ale category. The well-rounded finish of Redhook ESB makes it a wonderful companion to grilled meats. It is also great with game and cheeses. Available year round.

pours a light-orange-amber with an off-white head. aroma is bready, sweet, with a tiny touch of sweet citrus. taste is bready, a little hoppy, lightly bitter. gentle. a good ’intro beer’. a shitty ESB. very nice lacing though. mid-bodied with a round, wet mouthfeel. another decent session brew. i think i’m in the habit of finding these. cool, i guess. a good brew though, especially if you’ve never tried a decent craft beer before.

not horrible, is a bit hoppy with some slight citrusy notes. Not bad but nothing too remarkable. Enjoyed but wouldn’t buy again

Some bready, sweet notes, with a faint bitter aroma. Light orange with just a fog of chill haze. Pleasant hop/malt balance, smooth texture. I remember this offering tasting different (better), back in the early to mid 90s. Overall, not bad.

Would I choose it by name? Not really. Is it there in a pinch? Absolutely! Much better on tap than in bottles, carries a very nice caramel sweetness. Mellow, simple.

12 oz. bottle purchased today. Pours a golden amber, head dissipates quickly. Medium hops with just the right amount of bitterness.

While this beer had a fine smell and appearance, with a nice color to it, the aftertaste is absolutely horrible. I’m not sure if it was just my beer, but I had a taste in my mouth afterwards where I could swear I had been chewing on aluminum foil. Foul aftertaste

12 oz bottle. Although only had a few sips from my friend’s bottle. The beer’s body is cloudy orange. The aroma is some hop and citrus. The flavor is hoppy and bitter.

Pours golden brown little to no head lightly carbonated. Grassy aroma with a slight presence of hops. Clean caramel followed but nice grain with a slightly bitter hop finish. Palate is buttery and smooth.
