COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Redhook ESB is modeled after the premium Extra Special Bitters found in English pubs. Brewed since 1987, this full-bodied amber ale is Redhook’s signature brew with its toasted malt flavor and pleasant finishing sweetness. Its eminently drinkable style has established Redhook ESB as a benchmark brew in the amber ale category. The well-rounded finish of Redhook ESB makes it a wonderful companion to grilled meats. It is also great with game and cheeses. Available year round.

Orange brown with white head. Fruity doughy aroma. Sweet fruit and yeasty dough. Not bad. Not great.

Light orange pour, small fairly white head. Malt and grapefruits in the nose. Slightly bitter. Creamy mouth feel, mellow hop tang. Medium body. OK.

Perfectly drinkable. Had a bottle from a Red Hook variety pack. Light amber colour, not much head.

This beer is a hazy orange with a smallish white head, and the aroma is skunky and dough-like. This beer is of a medium sourness with salty undertones, and light body, thin and slick texture, soft carbonation, and abrupt finish do combine to make an alright beer.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a small, creamy, white head. Aroma has caramel, light cellar, light fruity. Medium carbonation, fine dry and light creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is mild, caramel, red berries, mild grassy. Soft but firm bitterness.

Bottled. Poured clear, medium golden with a short-lived white head. The aroma picked up sweet biscuit and honey malts with accents of citrus zest and grass.. a bit tangy.. OK. The flavor found sweet honey, caramel, and biscuity sweetness at the core.. some tangy malt-inspired notes and a bit of earthy bitterness around.. finished dry and grainy, with biscuits and honey leading. Lighter-bodied, quite sweet, and grainy on the palate.. seemed a little old.. OK overall.

Pretty standard appearance, like that seen in regular domestic macro. Nice smooth palate, with a hint of spice on the backend. Taste caramel malts.

On draught. Not a bad ESB. For some reason this was labeled as "Horshoe Ale" but was actually the ESB. Some toasted malt flavor balanced with the hops.

Pretty mild tasting. No surprises or stand out flavors. Still, not a bad beer.

Good taste with just enough bitter. Good alcohol strength, and like the look of the bottle.
