COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Redhook ESB is modeled after the premium Extra Special Bitters found in English pubs. Brewed since 1987, this full-bodied amber ale is Redhook’s signature brew with its toasted malt flavor and pleasant finishing sweetness. Its eminently drinkable style has established Redhook ESB as a benchmark brew in the amber ale category. The well-rounded finish of Redhook ESB makes it a wonderful companion to grilled meats. Bright copper body, with a quickly-diminishing head. Splotchy lacing. The aroma was balanced, yet on the faint side. The flavor could definitely have been more balanced, as I feel the hops are too pronounced for the style. The mouthfeel was good, though. Overall, I’ve had much better ESBs, so I doubt I’ll purchase this one again.

Pours light copper with an interesting, but short lived beige head. Aroma is strong earthy malt. Hops are smooth with a pleasant, citrusy clean aftertaste. Body is well rounded with a bit of fizz.

Adverage beer. Light copper colour. And a very light sweet flovour. It’s not a remarkable brew. However, to me it’s a middle of the road beer. Probably be good at an outdoor BBQ

Bottle. Pours copper with a medium head that stays a fair amount of time. Decent lacing. Mild aroma of hops. Thin on the palate, and tastes of earthy hops with enough sweet malt backbone to suit me. A very sessionable brew.

Copper color. Thin and sweet. A little earthy hop aroma. The malt is balanced well with the earty green hops. could use a little more body.

Bottle. A good attempt by a quality American brewer at producing an English style. Penny copper in color with a fizzy head. This brew is loaded with hops but lacks balance. If you are a hop-head, go nuts with this one. I tend to look for that little bit of malt to keep the bite in check. This beer lacked it. Good try, but I’ll still stick with the Brits for this one.

12 Oz Bottle. Soft aroma of minerals, wood grain and lightly aged hops. Pours a hickory orange, with a finger of white. Flavor is quiet, breezy and mild. Thin bodied and lightly watery. Tingling of lemony, light ester blow, generic citrus hop presence and nibbles of candy. Quaffable and bland.

amber appearance. flavor is balanced but could be a little hoppier for an esb. decent and drinkable
