Redhook ESB is modeled after the premium Extra Special Bitters found in English pubs. Brewed since 1987, this full-bodied amber ale is Redhook’s signature brew with its toasted malt flavor and pleasant finishing sweetness. Its eminently drinkable style has established Redhook ESB as a benchmark brew in the amber ale category. The well-rounded finish of Redhook ESB makes it a wonderful companion to grilled meats. It is also great with game and cheeses. Available year round.

Pours a nice Amber color with a good white head. Head retention is poor. Sweet malt, orange, very slight citrus and bitterness. Flavors of sweet malt, orange, slight caramel, malt bitterness and very slight pepper. It’s a refreshing ESB.

Small bottle - I didn’t write it down. Maybe 330 mL. Nice looking beer, decent ESB aroma. But the flavour is on the sweet side, and it’s really lacking in any sort of subtlety. Maybe you’re not looking for that ina an ESB. But there are better, easily available, examples out there.

Small offwhite coarseish head. Clear brown body. Raisiny caramelly strawy aroma with floral fruity notes. Dry-sweet fruity perfumy caramelly taste with strawberry and spice notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish spicy herbal caramel aftertaste with raisiny cocos notes. Nice, drinkable, slightly artificial. (0.355l bottle, from Vinbudin Kringlan, Reykjavik.)

Bottle 0.335L. Clear amber body with average, fizzy, white head, mostly diminishing with fair lacing; almost no bubbles at all. Moderate malty (caramel) and light-to-moderate hoppy (orange) aroma, with notes of spices and alcohol. Moderate sweet and light-to-moderate bitter flavour; bitter finish. medium body with oily texture; soft carbonation.

Sweet caramel malt aroma. Brown body with a red hue. Mild caramel roast taste with a mild bitter bite. Refreshing with a good body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Copper beer with a thin foamy bright white head. Nose of slightly citrusy hops, a bit of caramel, and some cereal grain. Flavor is mildly bitter up front with some metallic accents, which then give way to a pleasant malty sweetness before finishing with a little hop resurgence. Clean flavors, although not particularly exciting. Decent.

Pretty hard to judge. As it is to style and no infections or stuff like that with smaller places. I am just not to impressed but again it is an ESB and not an XXIPA. Typical earthy hops slightly bitter and hoppy and decent malts. Judge for your self it us everywhere.

Pours a copper colour with a lasting microhead and good lacing. The taste is grassy, toasted malts, caramel and fruity hops. Not as good as Fullers ESB, but it’s safe to get a 6-pack

12oz pour to pint. Nice copper color very clear. Cream colored head one finger thick dissipated quickly with minimal lacing. Sweet malty aroma of over ripened fruit. Sweet bread and caramel flavors mingle with an earthy hops flavor. Nice mouthfeel and a good balance between the sweet malt and bittering hops. Very nice take on the classic ESB. Cheers!
