COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Redhook ESB is modeled after the premium Extra Special Bitters found in English pubs. Brewed since 1987, this full-bodied amber ale is Redhookís signature brew with its toasted malt flavor and pleasant finishing sweetness. Its eminently drinkable style has established Redhook ESB as a benchmark brew in the amber ale category. The well-rounded finish of Redhook ESB makes it a wonderful companion to grilled meats. It is also great with game and cheeses. Available year round.

I canít believe it took me this long to try this beer. It is a wonderful example of how you donít need to explode 500 hops on people or give them something like a dry Saharan champagne to create a truly terrific beer. Noticeable hop character paired with a dry malty finish. Fantastic. Reminded me of somewhere between Brewdogís 5am saint and Fullerís ESB. Damn good.

A little dry, but smooth at the same time. Not an everyday beer, but you can totally have more than 1 in a sitting and be ok. A must try.

It fits itís description to a tee but I thought ESB are actually suppose to have some bitterness? This is highly malty with a sweet finish. Itís tasty and drinkable but it seems to have found the wrong category. It;s medium bodied & somewhat complex. Rustic orange in color w/ no head or lacing. Sweet malt aroma. Pretty good!

0.355l bottle. Amber body, off-white head. Aroma of caramel, biscuit and floral hops. Taste of caramel, toast, biscuit and floral hops. The finish is more on the hoppy side. Very nice ESB.

8/16/13 bottle from Troy. Best (and the last) of the 4 red hooks Troy gave me. Drank out front. Hazy orange color with light Carmel/fruity nose. The taste is a nice moderation of sweet and sour. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A very weird brew ..... There is no aroma at all. Unrefined, shallow and has a metallic alcoholic tone behind .. Behind almost nothing. Will not buy again.

from bottle. pours a clear amber colour with a frothy white head. aroma of herbal hops, green apples and biscuit. rather low carbonation, light to medium body and oily texture. really weak and way too sweet flavours of herbal hops with some malts. highly unbalanced and disgusting brew.

Dry and mildly bitter ale. Pours darkish amber with oily beige head. Aroma is light hops, malt and caramel. Taste is hops, dry malt, pine, wood. Reminds me of a redwood forest.
