COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Redhook ESB is modeled after the premium Extra Special Bitters found in English pubs. Brewed since 1987, this full-bodied amber ale is Redhook’s signature brew with its toasted malt flavor and pleasant finishing sweetness. Its eminently drinkable style has established Redhook ESB as a benchmark brew in the amber ale category. The well-rounded finish of Redhook ESB makes it a wonderful companion to grilled meats. It is also great with game and cheeses. Available year round.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Medium amber brew with a thin white head. Aroma of malts, hint of fruit, maybe a little vanilla. Taste is sweet malty with a modest hops bite at the very end. Nice palate and mouthfeel, though modestly carbonated. A nice brew.

Pours a hazy orange with a small off white head. Aroma of citrus hops, malt, and vanilla notes. Sweet fruit flavor, with caramel, and mild bittering hops. Sweet and fruity finish.

12oz. Pours a nice amber, white head with some retention, a bit hazy. Nice mixture of sweet maltiness and hop aroma, smells a bit bitter. Leans a bit more to the bitter side of things on the tongue. Low carbonation, medium body, slick texture.

On tap at The Taphouse, pours clear copper. Bland caramel malts, slight hoppy bitterness - not much character here. Drinkable.

22 oz. bottle from the local Safeway. Big frothy head on this. This beer has a copper hue to it. The beer is quite transparent. It has a little bit of grass coming from the aroma. Light pear and honey aroma. It’s surprisingly pungent. The flavor starts out well, but it quickly shows its ugly face. I’m getting the same aforementioned sweetness in the flavor, then after that I get a slight off-putting malt flavor. It has a great oily texture. The only problem with this is the nasty malt flavor that is ephemeral, but again, off-putting.

12oz. Bottle. Pours a rich copper color with a thick and long lasting frothy head. Resin dominates the nostrils. Palate is very lively and the taste is medium bitterness and somewhat sour; tasty...really good.

12 oz bottle. Pours a gold color with no head at all. It has a pleasant hop aroma. This is a good tasting easy to drink beer with a nice hop bitterness to it. It has a citrus taste and a resin taste along with a nice malt sweetness. I enjoyed this beer a lot.
