2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Wow has this beer changed. I remember loving this beer "back in the day" when it was in the short bottles and brewed in WA. The color and taste are the big changes, it used to be a very orange amber now a yellow amber. Taste used to be a good balance of caramel malts and west coast hops, now it has a musty hop taste. It has been awhile since I tried the tall bottle version, I had forgotten how bad this beer has fallen. RIP.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
pours a hazed amber ale with a fleeting finger of off white foam. Smells of grain, metal and a hint of a frosted flakes. Tastes sweet and malty with the slightest hint of bitterness. I’m not really impressed with the flavor of this beer. I remember back when I first got into craft, and I thought this was a good beer, nowadays, this thin bodied, hi carbed sweet beer is mediocre for me. IMO an ESB should be only subtly sweet and have a pronounced, complimentary bittering on it that results in a feeling of slaked satisfaction.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle shared at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Slightly hazy deep golden-orange. Aroma of slightly stale malt, cookies, fruity notes and a light floral hops hint. Sweetish flavor with malt, some fruitiness, biscuit, cardboard notes, caramel and a finish with mild bitterness, a bit earthy. Medium-bodied.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample at Örebro Öl & Whisky 2013. Sweet smell and taste with some sponge cake. The sweetness is not like most ESB this felt more like a low ABV old ale. Still very drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Almost clear amber with a nice foamy head. Aroma very "English" with caramel, herbal, and nutty notes. Taste somewhat more carbonated and, alas, a bit more oxidized than you’d expect from a true English ESB but otherwise spot on. With the exception of the fact that no self-respecting Englishman would drink a "half-pint", I can totally imagine drinking this down at the local. Very nice.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours copper gold. Aroma is slightly nutty and sweet, metallic, lightly west coast choppy. Flavor is slightly citrus, tannic, cloying off sweetness, wooden dead bitter end. Feel is slick and thin then gritty in an unpleasant way. Drinkable and innocuous when not thinking about it too hard.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
0.355 l bottle at Timo A’s. Copper to amber color. Mellow tropical and floral aroma with lemon and pale caramel. Caramelly and fruity taste with restrained lemon, nuts and toffee. Medium bitterness. Medium to full body. Quite mellow and caramelly, for ESB I would like to have more bitterness.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
Moderate malty and light hops in the aroma. Some caramel too. White fizzy head. Not lasting. The colour is amber with some red tones. Has a moderate bitter taste and is a (very) little sour.
