COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Redhook ESB is modeled after the premium Extra Special Bitters found in English pubs. Brewed since 1987, this full-bodied amber ale is Redhook’s signature brew with its toasted malt flavor and pleasant finishing sweetness. Its eminently drinkable style has established Redhook ESB as a benchmark brew in the amber ale category. The well-rounded finish of Redhook ESB makes it a wonderful companion to grilled meats. It is also great with game and cheeses. Available year round.

Wow, what an utter ripoff. Waited years to review good beers in front of this, anyway, let’s roll. Great label, great description on label, decent ESB color, I guess. Slight aroma, slight taste, no character. Good ESB is a fine style, so I stubbornly tried this stinker many times over the years, telling myself that the last beer was too assertive, ruining my palate for Redhook. BULLSHIT ! This is dyed red Budweiser (ie, Buttwiper). Jesus, Killian’s tastes passable next to this corporate "product".

Pours a somewhat hazy orange copper with a small white head. Aroma is of sweet malts. Nice bitterness, lots of malts, fair carbonation, some fruity notes, a little wood.

Appearance: Clear golden with a medium sized white head and good lacing
Aroma: Toasted malts, bisquity and sweet
Taste: Toasted malts, bready with bitter citrus in the finish
Nice, much better than years ago

Pours golden honey color with about a finger of white head. Some sweetness on the nose and on the palate. Floral and honey notes. Somewhat forgettable beer.

Poured a nice looking clear light copper color. Head fizzled out. Aroma of some caramel and biscuit malt. Med light bitter. Light sweet. Med light bodied. Ave carbonation. Normal texture. Not bad and not great. A decent go to esb ale.

Nearly clear golden copper with a quick-to-disappear head and no lace. Taste begins with tart malt that grows into a mildly sweet caramel, finishing with a small but clear shot of hops. The palate clears to a persistent bitter. Not the best, but workable, especially with fast food.

Copper amber pour into thin foamy white head that quickly dissipates into melting lacing and a swirl of foamy bubbles. Aroma of yeasty sweetbread, toasted caramel malt, citrus and hop. Initial flavor of malted biscuit, grapefruit, and peppery spice that quickly fades into a bitter hoppy finish.
