COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Redhook ESB is modeled after the premium Extra Special Bitters found in English pubs. Brewed since 1987, this full-bodied amber ale is Redhook’s signature brew with its toasted malt flavor and pleasant finishing sweetness. Its eminently drinkable style has established Redhook ESB as a benchmark brew in the amber ale category. The well-rounded finish of Redhook ESB makes it a wonderful companion to grilled meats. Sweet, mild, crisp, fizzy and blackjacked with a malty mouthfeel. A pretty solid go-to beer on a summer day. Tastes of apple peel and ginger, nipped with taffy.

Bottle from SuperValu, Kimmage, Dublin [240714] BBE 2/8/14
Orange amber, clear, frothy fluffy white head that dissipates, some lacing
Aroma of US caramel toffee malts, quite sweet, not all that keen on the malt
Taste of caramel malts, soft toffee, dab of toasted malt, not much going on, touch of fruits, dull for abv
Palate - soft carb, medium body, quite sweet, some soft bitter hops. Finish as main flavour
Overall - Ordinary, found this a bit boring and dull...maybe bottle was too old

Limpido color ambrato con soffice cappello bianco di schiuma. Una bitter luppolata, biscottata e delicatamente fruttata con note amarognole di caramello. Corpo ed effervescenza lievi, struttura un po’ acquosa. Dissetante.

Rune (7775) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUN 7, 2014
330ml bottle at Café Sånn in Tromsø. Slowly diminishing pearl white head. Amber coloured body with a slight haze. Moderate, mixed hopped aroma of lemon and grass, malty sweetness beneath. Well blended, succulent taste of orange, lemon, and mild caramel sustained by a bittersweet ending. Fine bodied. Fresh and soft in the mouth. A nice partner to my Tromsø fish burger (05.06.2014).
