Redhook ESB is modeled after the premium Extra Special Bitters found in English pubs. Brewed since 1987, this full-bodied amber ale is Redhook’s signature brew with its toasted malt flavor and pleasant finishing sweetness. Its eminently drinkable style has established Redhook ESB as a benchmark brew in the amber ale category. The well-rounded finish of Redhook ESB makes it a wonderful companion to grilled meats. It is also great with game and cheeses. Available year round.

14-OCT-2016, bottle @Ulkløbben meeting, @Michael. Almost clear with a low White head. Very sweet ale’ish with caramel mostly. Faint bitterness. Not for me.

Poured from a bottle, short-lived head and little lacing, but very effervescent and an attractive semi-opaque amber color. It may be an extra-special bitter, but it’s not extra-bitter...almost a sweet aroma, tart taste with some pine.

Bottle at the Silver City hotel earlier today... Polished light Amber.. Dry toast and balanced caramel... Grassy hops mesh well with a dry finish.

Slightly cloudy reddish golden pour with small, beige foam. Malty nose with caramel, vanilla, and some fruity hops. The hops are more prominent in the taste and their bitterness compliments the active fizz. Medium body and sweet finish.

So disappointed... Used to be malty and balanced and so tasty... Now it is thin and weak and just not very good. A beer that I grew up with but clearly when Bud got involved everything changed.

Pours a bold golden with nearly no head. Subdued fruity nose. Missing flavor. I used to drink a shit ton of this back in the day. Just never reviewed it. Was feeling nostalgic. Ruined a memory.

355ml bottle into schooner glass. More than a Cornflakes aroma, perhaps Frosties! Hazy amber beer with thin film on top. A few bubbles. Full bodied, sweet malt taste. Slight zing in the mouth. Alcohol and bitterness noticeable in the finish. Not great and nothing like an ESB.
