Mellow, citrusy, hoppy. Interesting hop combo. Smooth palate.

I wonder about this beer and whether or not it has changed. I wonder about my older rating that pronounced it as rather bitter. I wonder about other ratings here that pronounced it bitter and hoppy. I wonder about the comparison to Bigfoot below, esp in terms of dark color and strong hopping. I wonder, I wonder. Because I just bought a fresh bottle of it and hereís what it was: Light golden color, with a large creamy head. Very mild citric hop aroma with a little clean malt in the nose too. Flavor is very mildy fruity, and there is a soft bitterness. The hop flavors are very light, and a bit on the grassy side. Fairly crisp, and mainly resembling a pale ale, not an IPA.

A good beer from Red Hook, but the ESB is better.

Normally i donít like IPAs. I find them way to bitter for my taste. I didnít like this one either but itís not for that reason. This just lacked anything. It had a weak hop finish, and a weird creamy mouthfeel. Drinkable, but there are much better out there.

NOT. HOPPY. ENOUGH. This weak pretender to the IPA throne would have never made the trip from England to India.

I like the high alcohol content of an IPA, but there is something missing here, like good taste.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2003 I really don't like ipa's but i will give this one the proper respect. Its everything that an ipa should be from a big brewery. Fine job red hook brewery. I now love ipa's so this was not a great one to turn me on to the style, but after a few stone's I'm a huge fan.

Calling hops, calling malt...anybody home. Im looking for some flavor here. Sorry but when I get a Pacific Northwest IPA i need some hops to come through. this just didnít deliver for me.
