A lighter, drier ale with a warm, brassy color and herbal aroma.

Draught at Flanigan’s by Coral Gables, in Miami, on December 1, 2012.
Clear golden color, off-white head. Hoppy, bitter, apricot, mango, sweet, malty taste. Sweet and hoppy aftertaste. Medium to spritzy mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Malty, hoppy scent.

UPDATED: AUG 15, 2014 Bottle. Sweet orange and hops aroma. Yellow amber color with small head. Blended lightly sweet orange and moderate hops. Finish could be stronger. This was my first IPA - sometime back in 95 - obviously much more impressive with an immature palate.

Hazy gold/amber colour. Quite hopy, as one might expect, but not as extreme as many US IPAs. The hops are herbal rather than the typical US sweet resin, so the beer comes over as quite dry. A pleasant drop. Cask, GBBF 2004.

Poured clear deep gold with thin bright white head. It has a crisp hoppy aroma of tangelo to grapefruit with sweet malts in the background. Hey, this is a tasty IPA. I get a grapefruit hop bitterness mixed with floral hints. Behind that is a mild roasted maltiness or maybe even some rye that plays nicely against the hops.

This light amber ale poured with a thin off-white head and a floral aroma. The flavor is thin - slightly malty with a bitter and dry hoppy finish.

Cletus (6354) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 25, 2006
Pours copper with a white head. Smells of pine, citrus and soap. Tastes watery with a mellow malty profile and some bitterness, but a far cry from a good IPA.

Pours orange with with white head, aroma is floral, grassy, resinous hops with a touch of caramel. Floral, grassy up front, bit of biscuit, caramel in the middle, dry finish that is slightly bitter. Very average IPA.

Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear dark yellow. Aroma is lightly hoppy (resin), moderately yeasty (dough). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly astringent. Aromatically, it's overly yeasty and not really that hoppy. Flavor balance is ok, but too citric for my tastes, and way too yeasty.

Bottle pours a nice orange hued yellow, head is of small fizzy bubbles.   Constant stream of carbonation rises from the bottom.   Lacing seems respectable.   Aroma is sweet and hoppy.   Taste reveals a real lack of hop bite.   Initially you get some bitterness (not hopiness), but it quickly fades.   Very mellow for an IPA.   Perhaps some ashtray on the finish.   Looked the part, but didn't come through.   This would make a better Pale Ale.

Bottle shared by Ed. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A sweet nose of citrus and biscuit. Very smooth flavor with lingering bitterness, some citrus, very clean and good.
