mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Oct 5, 2008 Bottle from BevMo. Bright reddish amber color upon pouring. Somewhat sweet malty aroma. A little hop character as well. Crisp malty flavor with a decent balance of hops. Decent amber. Ron (1002), Rochester, New York, USA Oct 5, 2008 Poured an orange-amber color, looks like the fall. Had a small white head. Clean, fresh aroma of hops, some malts, and wheat. Distinctl hop flavor with more of a body than I expected and having warming notes. An amber with a twist.
mcjay (302), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA Oct 4, 2008 Slightly hazy copper color with a nice off white head. Cascade hop aroma with a hint of caramel. Nice malty mouth feel with a roasted, grainy flavor. astrofrk (218), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 4, 2008 Amber. Lasting off-white head. Aroma: Caramel, malts, earth, Flavor: The same with english hops. Clean finish.
Butters (1623), Virginia, USA Oct 1, 2008 Bottles. 2007 and 2008 respectively. Clear amber with lots of fine suspended particulate, and quick fading light head. ’08 was a little redder, and had no particulate. Nose is floral and some caramel. Flavor is a bit astringent on both. The alcohol was more pronounced in the flavor of the ’08. Wasn’t all that impressed with either year. SuperDave70 (1157), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Sep 30, 2008 Clear copper pour with a good foamy head that faded slowly. Lightly sweet aroma and flavor or roasted caramel malt, light fruit and a touch of hop spiciness. Lightly carbonated and refreshing. Good. biggmike (480), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Sep 30, 2008 This beer poured a nice and inviting copper color with a generous white head that lasted a while and left nice lacing around the glass. Aroma was not real strong, but had hints of fruit. Flavor was also of fruit. Very smooth and drinkable. Mouthfeel was pleasant. I would buy this again.
hopscotch (5441), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Sep 28, 2008 Bottle... Murky burnt orange ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The aroma is malty and earthy... caramel, canvas and beef stock. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and ticklish carbonation. Caramel flavor with mineral bitterness that provides perfect balance, but allows the malts to shine brightly. Crisp, clean finish. Seems more like a märzen than an amber ale.
